If you like them get them. But if you do alot of streetin i wouldn't get them, I heard they crack easy. I like them i would probably never get any for my car but i have definately seen some that look good. And no people won't point and laugh. The only people who are gonna have anything negative to say is people online.

Not true. Not only do I talk shit about undercar neons online, I ALSO point and laugh when I see them in person. What can I say? I'm multitalented. Also applicable to this treatment are valvestem lights, washer nozzle lights, aluminum dinner table wings, and balding guys with mullets.

you know i bet domestic owners point and laugh at your car to. Show real matturity doesn't it

Its funny how the nt owners enjoy lights and all that ricey shit. People will only point and laugh when they see those lights that were cool 6 years ago.

I dont know where this came from. I have never had one person say anything bad about the lights underneath my car. INCLUDING those who are performance oriented. They even liked them. Sure they may not put them on their car but they still liked them. Who cares if they were cool 30 years ago, if you want them, get them. I have them on my car, although they will most likely be taken off but ONLY because I am putting some things on the car and there will not be room for the lights...such as

FMIC.... no room up front for a neon
Front bumper undertray.... same reason as IC
Rear diffuser.... light would be hidden so pointless

that leaves the sides, but im not going to have lights just on the sides of the car and not the front or back.

Can you explain to me why you need a diffuser and an undertray on a street driven car?

Honestly....no. on a street driven car, a diffuser/ undertray will not do much. on the highway they will some but not too much of a difference. Unles im oging 100 mph+

NOW, reason for me doing it it because I am goign to school for Mechanical Engineering. Doing this gives me something to do to my car that I would find fun and enjoyable to do. And it still would help my car, even if not much.

also, how many dsm owners have an undertray/diffuser on their car? it would be different. also, i know where i can get carbon fiber in different thicknesses so i can use that.

also, there are cars with diffusers/undertrays on them. skylines, porsches, couple others although they are more eurpoean and are meant for the autobahn

Sorry. I meant laugh in his face in person. Any Tough guy can talk online or Point and laugh while someone drives by. :(

Don't take this as a me talking about you. I'm just saying people in general. I know for a cold blooded fact that people have alot of stuff to say online but when i go out to my hangout spot. A guy can roll up an 78 Gremlin with an underbody and nobody will go up to him and talk trash. They'll say something to their friend or whatever but not to the owner.

Gremlins are ####ing tight, dude, what are you talkin' 'bout? Saw one down at the racetrack running 10s.

...but anyway. Yeah, I suppose you have a point. I guess it somehow feels less rude to do it on a message board.

Here's a little story that needs to be heard...

I had some red underbody neons which everyone used to love, but one night I was driving down a side road and at the last second I see 2 possums gettin it on in the middle of the road.. BAM BAM! Now I can hear something dragging along the concrete and i'm thinkin "Oh crap I'm draggin bloody possums." So I pull over and much to my horror I see my front and right side tubes dragging on the ground instead...

Doh! I got em cheap but still I don't think its worth it. You can't drive with them on anyway... It just brings unwanted attention because the only people who notice it and care are cops or punks who want to race you...

i have had my neons on my car for over a year and my car is dropped 2". i have not had any problems yet with them braking. i think it just depends how you drive, where you drive and where you put the neons

get Street Glow gold, thier 3 times brighter then those cheaper ones, I have blue under my car, no one has yet to say anything bad about them, and the cops could really care less as long as where not causing trouble

To me there are 2 different types of cars. I like both, but i am more of the stock looking, big rims and hooked up engine. THen there is the body kit slow show car. If you are gonna put a kit on the car....keep it at the shows. I would have a car with a kit if i could afford to only take it to shows. I would also put interior neons like silver missile did but no under body lights that just looks tacky.

When I was discussing rice with my brother, I brought up neon underbody lights. But I actually thought of a useful thing for them. If you're stuck on some country road with a flat tire, and no flashlight. Do not fear, just flip your neons on :p Or if you need to change your oil and don't have a nice corded lantern, just flip those fancy neons on!

My computer's got lights, my car don't. I prefer to keep it that way. But I don't think in PA we have neon laws, or else people just don't care because out here in NE PA, we don't have many cops ;). They're nice for show, but most people hate them now because of the F&F crowd that has to have 'em because they were on some "HOT HONDA CIVICS!"

You guys in PA and Ohio are lucky. Out in SoCal, cops bust you for anything and everything. A buddy of mine got ticketed for his car being too low. Anyway, the neon thing just comes down to personal preference. Who cares what anybody else thinks is cool or not?

Having a diffuser is way cooler than having lights that are illegal. Oh, and if you don't play at 100+ yer a ####ey.

one of my friends has a 99 gs. and he has some where over a grand of neons in his car. i personally think its a little much and wouldnt' go that far but it actuall does look pretty tight. the only thing performance he has done to his car was get his catback exhaust. He has a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber double stack wing. and his tail lights have a carbon fiber background. his car is silver and he has black graphics that run all the way down both sides of his car and he has some nice 18's.his interior is also yellow with custom diamond plate floor mats and his trunk is all done is diamond plate and his speakers and amp are imbeded in them and his car is now a 2 seater he just spent around 1200 bucks on his racing seats. and do u know what that all that non performance stuff got him. A FREAKIN SPONSOR FOR HIS CAR!!!!!!!! Street glow now sponsors him so he has a street glow banner on the botton of his windshield and one on the back windshield. it was pretty koo because a photographer came and took pics of his car and he recently was in a car show and did awesome. so now when he needs somehting for his car..performance or non performance. street glow helps him out and gets him pretty much like 40 or 50 percent off of what ever he wants for his car!!!! so my final thought to this is non performance mods are pretty kool and do get you somewhere

Hey I am thinking of buying red streetglow neons for my red 99 gs. I live in washington and it is illegal to drive with neons turned on.

I just wanted to know if anyone has been caught driving with their neons on, and if so what was the penalty or if they found a loophole and got the ticket dropped?

Also if anyone has pics of a 2g red eclipse with red neons can you show me???

Thanks Matt:dsm:

I got cought with green neons.. i got pics take a look if you want... Heres my story and how much they cost.... :thumb:

Driving to Des Moines IA... Bam out of no where cop pulls me over... Says Illigal lights and he will ticket me for a Non-moving violation :nono: ... Heres what the ticket cost... Violation/fine$__ 10.00
Surcharge___$ 3.20
Court Cost $30.00
Total Cost/fine $ 43.20

Dude customizing is all about what you would like your car to look like and the time and effort you took to personalize it and make it your own piece of art. some will like it some will hate it. I have neon on my 92 Talon and I personally like it even though some dont but hey its my car not theirs! As long as you think it looks good then go for it. As for the law, here in Fla. it only states that the neon license plate frames and washer lights are illegal to have on while driving and as for the other accesories its not illegal to own them but the law states that you cannot do anything to mimick an emergency or official vehicle. Police=Blue, Fire dept=Red or Orange and Forestry/Wildlife=Green
