unable to find 5th gear

hey i just put a new tranny in my 92 fwd turbo laser all the gears go in real smooth except fith. when i push the stick to the right the try to go forward it wont let me. could this be a linkage issue or something. i also replaced the clutch. Thanks for any help

Take the shifter cables off the transmission and see if you can shift it manually. if you still cant then it is and issue with the transmission if you can then its a problem with the shifter or cables.

It is more than likely a linkage issue, make sure it isnt binding.

Same thing with mine except its reverse I will be checkng the linkage this week.

Got an IC piping smaking into the two linkage units on the tranny - the "SELECT" and "SHIFT" levers?

5th/Reverse is the upper postion of the "SELECT" position.

It's most likely an adjustment issue unless you bought a bad tranny
