Well i had someone put in my clutch a couple weeks ago and one they said my driveshaft was bad, and the other thing he said was bad was my rear u- joint. Now i somewhat know what the u joint is, but i was just wondering how much a new one is, and what u think a shop would charge to put it in. The guy is gana find me a used drivesaft put he said he doesnt want to do the u-joint becuase it really sucks. Any feedback would help. Thanks

Well if I was in your shoes I would ask this guy to show and explain to you why your driveshaft is "bad." U-Joints are a pita to change but they aren't that bad to replace, just takes some persistance and alot of abusive language. I don't think they are very pricey but I haven't had to change any on a dsm, for my dad's truck though, I paid 12$ for a new u-joint. Check out this link, they have a good faq for replacing them. http://www.plymouthlaser.com/dshaft.htm
Any more questions pm me and I'd be happy to go more in depth with you.

there not that bad to do. me and my cousin did his in his 165,xxx 90. it took us 2 1/2 hours for both u joints and the carrier bearings. his was making a clunking noise(and thumping which is why we replaced the C.B'S)when he would put it in gear and start to let out the clutch.
