Any ideas on what to do about two melted wire harnesses in the passenger dashboard? My car wont stay on now. It cranks over but as soon as you let go of the key... its shuts off. It only stays on if you hold it. But theres a tickin noise near the glovebox area. Any ideas on how much or what is goin to fix this? I can also hear a tickin noise near the fuse box. But someone told me relays are suppose to click. But EITHER WAYY the noise near the glovebox wasnt there untill the car wouldnt stay on. Any Help?!

Sounds like you have an ignition switch problem . . . It`s starting to short out & the wiring is overheating & melting together, possibly effecting the relays you are hearing. The reason I believe that it`s ignition switch related is because of the shut off when you release the key . . . :talon:

Thats a good suggestion. I thought it may be that as well. So i might as well replace that and the wire harness. Can i cut and snip the wires and replace them? Or do i have to totally rewire them?

I know this post is old, but maybe someone will respond. Did anyone answer about snipping and replacing the wires? I have a melted wire from my taillamp fuse in the engine fuse box and the interior fuse box. It's the green wire with a white stripe. Previous owner installed "euro style" taillamps and looks like he wired it himself. Can i just cut out the melted wires and replace, or do I need to get new harnesses for the engine and interior just because of this one wire? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. 1997 Spyder GST
