Turning a 14b into a 16g, worth it?

If you have a 1995 GST, you have a T25 unless it was swapped for a 14b...can I ask why you are asking this??

But to answer, on a 1g car the 16g is a bolt-on in place of the 14b but on the 2g cars you need an install kit which runs about $220 if I remember correctly.

If you have the t25, you can always get a t28, which uses the same housing and looks stock.

Probably not. You can get 16g's for relatively cheap now (+kit of course). I assume the 1st gen's 14b would also need this kit for your car. You would probably be better off getting the t28 for sure, unless you just have some spare time and money. Just my thoughts.

you guys are wierd...t28s go for like 800 bucks...a install kit for a 16g costs 30 bucks just make it yourself and go 1g junkyard shopping. A 16g u could get a used one for like 300 bucks and a new evo 16g for 500.. and i think there better than most cheap t28s

Well you are correct for a GST a B16 might be btter because it will give him a slight turbo lag and creates more top end power... And he does have a GS-T So thats and added reason for the lag. fully tuned you can get more whp with the Evo16g but it is only like 20-30 hp. :) whatever helps I guess... But a T28 is as they said a bolt on. and is nice quick spool.

i have a 14b on my car already, is just that i am being sold the 16g wheel for 130 new

it's not worth it, sell the 14b for $100-150 if it's in good shape, then get an evo 16g

reason is...
the rebuild could run you like $250 depending on what needs replaced, also rebuilt turbos have a better chance of crappin out on ya. and you would want a 7cm exh housing b/c the 14b only has a 6cm... those are about $150... add it all up, imo i'd rather have a fresh evo 3 :D
