turn signal problems

So I have an issue . my turn turn signals and hazards work . but if I turn my headlights on my turn signals don't work . the blinker indicators stay lit up when I turn headlights on.

Check all your bulbs, one is probably bad. Or you have a bad switch, or short.

I would check the plug and the side markers too I had the same problem and I switched out the connector on the side marker and my blinkers work now before only one would work.

I just recently did a full led upgrade . I have an alarm installed . I'm about to change the turn signal switch. All bulbs work.

Any one know of a 97 through 98 eclipse for sell preferably turbo . or with engine where belts are on drivers side

Oh yea I have a 96 eclipse 2.0 no, turbo is there anything I could do to make a pretty fast car. New to the eclipse. Oh yea the alarm is aftermarket ...that was installed at a local shop

Ok put the new turn signal or mfs switch . no right blinker cancels. And left side doesn't . also still have the same problems going to have the guy that installed my alarm check it out see if it could be a wiring issue

Ouch, learning the hard way!! I've learned that way as well! Always do one job, then test, or you will be re-doing both jobs odd's are it's probably the led conversion, as your not cutting wires more or less with an alarm, as you are splicing into them! You could have hooked up the wrong wire somewhere, but doing both things without checking really leaves you guessing!

I've heard issues with the LEDS and turn signals, they need LOAD resisters to function properly.
One would think you could simply swap LEDS in place of standard bulbs, but it's not as simple as it should be sometimes!

See that's what I was thinking was doing the led turn signal relay/ resistor next.but why would it need one. If leds draw less current.???? Unsolved mystery

Another thing why would my signals and flashers still work ....the turn signals are the only thing that don't work when I turn my headlights on. After looking how my alarm was wired. I seen he spliced into my mfs wires. I'm at the place having it checked out ...hopefully this solves the problem

Ok I'm about to try the resistor ?? do I just wire one into each of the front turn signals ??? I don't like wiring ....

Alarm not causing the problem .
Yes when the headlights are off I hear the relay blinking. When the headlights are on I can turn the blinker on and no relay clicking. I went back through my eBay and searched for the lights .
It says if using for older cars and using,as turn signals than you may need load resistors. Wish I would have seen that.
I stopped at auto zone and bought resistors. Ill try installing them,tomorrow, also there was a side note on the light page in the description saying that the dash may throw a code when lights are installed.....
Got me thinking So mix old technology and new technology ... Newer cars throw codes = older codes throw codes just not so clearly ... so here's my theory headlights off everything works great besides the new mfs switch not,canceling left turn turns... Probably happened when,I took the steering wheel off not knowing I just had to take 3 screws under the steering wheel and boom the mfs switch is right there ...live and learn right ? So I fix that tomorrow. Back to the subject now. Older cars throw codes. Hence when I turn headlights on all lights on drawing too much current is that the right word?
So with headlights on.
Turn signal indicators stay lit on the dash but don't. Blink ( my error code ) from my older car.
So theory is install resistors correct the flow right? Turn headlights on than everything works like it should no more signal indicators staying lit= (no more error code)
I'll install them tomorrow and let you know.
Let me know if this sounds confusing.

Good news everyone all I needed was 2 resistors for the front turn signals . problem solved .
Unfortunately due to my mistake messing up taking off the steering wheel I broke the srs. Clock spring ordered one so it should be here in a few days .

Glad you were able to get it fixed dude! Hope the clock spring didn't cost too much, probably could have pulled one from a yard, or from a part out here!

I've never done LEDS in a 2g, but I did them in my 3rd gen camaro and had the same issues you were describing, figured it was the same thing

Some LEDS come with load resisters built in, but cost a little more.

Would love to see a pic of what it looks like!

Hey rough I pmd you my number . it won't let me download pics from my phone .
I started following everyone who gave advice thank you guys.
I live in Texas I got the clock spring for,30 dollars on eBay . so not bad . oh and I changed the turn signal switch again and my blinkers actually cancel now. They sent me a bad one the first time . that's he I actually broke the clock spring didn't have the nut on to hold the steering wheel.

Anyone got any good advice on how,to build a 96 2.0 dohc.... Or am I better off looking for,a,turbo ?????

hey bud, realistically you are probably better off shopping for a gst or gsx (stock turbo motors) but alot of people do turbo the 420a motors which is what yours is. i for example had a 99 eclipse with a 420a and had a turbonetics turbo setup on it. i loved the car but unless you build the internals of the motor you can only hope to safely run around 7-10 psi which will make your car pick up alot better but if you are planning to track it or drive it hard id suggest building it even if you arent looking to push a high amount of power it all depends on the way you will be driving

I've had a GS and must say going gst/gsx is the route to go! The 2k-2500$ you spend upgrading, you can have a gst/ if your lucky a gsx

Just having a stock gst/gsx compared to the gs will bring a smile to your face every time you hit the gas

That's what I figured I'll be looking for a gst or gsx ....I'm just gonna do a basic rebuild to my motor since it burns oil

Ok I have everything working correctly now.
But another problem if I have the car than turn the headlights on . I can turn off the car and take the key out of the ignition and the car stays running till I turn the headlights off
