I know this isn't performance related, but it may involve losing performance. My friend ordered a Dejon Tool upper intercooler pipe with a TurboXS flange on it. We can't decide whether to order the RFL or the recirculating H-34. He wants it louder than his Greddy Type-S is (recirculated), but we're not sure about venting, as we know the side effects. His is an auto, so there's no blow-off between gears, but we don't need a fudged idle. Has anyone ever heard the recirculating version of the TXS valves? Also, has anyone ever seen PIT (Performance Import Trends) BOV's? They appear to be the same as the RFL's in every way, just a lot cheaper. Go to Jegs.com and look at them.
If we were to get a GM MAF and MAFT to compensate for venting to atmosphere, what all can be tuned with it? Is it an air/fuel controller??

the h34 is still going to be louder then the type-s when recirculated..

Just get the h34 so you don't have to deal with the problems associated with it, unless you want to invest in the gm maft blow through setup.

heres a vid of my car with a type h vented, it's LOUD, you can use the MAFT to tune, but use a SAFC instead, way better

Have you had any problems venting your H-34? I tried to vent mine and the car rins horrible. It will idle but unde high boost and quick shifts it stalls out and I loose control of the car. (all power accesories...steering, brakes, ignition) Will a SAFC help? I heard only the GM MAF will allow you to vent properly but relocating it.

Oh and I have the H-34 it s loud I'd go with the H-34 beacuse you can vent it and recirculate it.

no, i haven't had any problems yet and tuning is always goos and yes you to relocate the MAFT after the BOV

LOL rfl looks way sexier with the horn sticking out. No seriously i have an rfl with stock mas and i have no noticeable difference in performance. I have perfect idle, perfect shifting. When i first bought my rfl and my dejon piping, i switched back and forth from my 1g piping and recirculating to see if i noticed a difference, i didn't.

I have the H34 and its definetly noticable. I would get the H34 cause then you could try venting and if it doesnt work out then you can just recirculate it. If you get the rfl and the car runs like ass theres nothing you can do.

The guy who said he was venting runs a Type-H, I believe, not an H-34 (could be wrong LOL). Did your friend post that vid on SRTforums? From what we have read, regardless of any difference you feel or don't feel, it's still bad for your engine. Boost creep is causing us to run ~19.5 psi, so anything else we can do to help is good LOL. If we did go with the RFL, we'd probably get the PIT version of it, which is the same thing but 80 bucks cheaper. We went ahead and ordered the H-34 last night from Summit...we tried to get some NGK Iridium IX plugs, but he didn't have any listed for the 2G's. Any experiences with them?

BTW, thanks for all the help guys :thumb: OMG

I had some and they were fine. Very smooth idle.

I also had a recirculated H-34 for a while on my A/T-- definitely louder than the 1G BOV I have now, but that's OK. If you use too many washers in it in order to try to get it to hold more boost, it will flutter. Make sure to lube the brass piston up good with some oil or grease before running it.

How many washers are you using on your BOV? I have tried to set it soft and hard the car still runs like ass. It backfires and sputters, i know its not a performance mod but anyone who has heard a turbo XS BOV vented will fall in love with that sound! I ant mine to run smooth, is there any thing I can do other than relocate the MAS.

How many washers are you usng on you BOV? I have tried to set it hard and soft either way the car runs liek ass.

im also looking for a Super LOUD BOV! let me know how the new one works. especially since its the PIT version in JEGS and its 80 bucks cheaper. i wonder if it will hold 30 psi?? does any one know???

I used anywhere from 3-5 depending on the situation. For daily driving, I used three to prevent any flutter. On long trips I used four to prevent it from whistling at high cruise. At the track I used 5 to help hold more boost.

We got the H-34 in today, but we still don't have the intercooler piping. We'll just have to wait and see. I guess there are mixed opinions about the Iridiums. Everyone says that it helped their idle.

if you are still having trouble with the h-34 holding while venting to atmosphere Turbo xs sells a higher spring rate that is designed for atmosphere venting, the spring it comes with is meant for recirculating. im not sure about the RFL though i would imagine that comes with the stronger spring already.

Now we have the intercooler piping and the BOV. We are starting to run into a problem though, the BOV seems to be too tall to close the hood. We know that TurboXS offers a 90 degree bend and vent tube. Has anyone had a problem with this and if so, was the 90 degree bend and vent tube been the answer?

Thank You

yes, you need the 90' elbow kit they sell. I had to use it when I installed my type-h34 because I also was having hood clearence issues.

I also wanted to add in that I use 6 washers and have absolutely no issues with flutter. I went from the 'type-h' which is atmospheric venting to the 'type-h34' which recirculates. I LOVE the h34. I got rid of idling issues, got better response and spool up, and held boost better even with the t-too-small. I noticed that the car overall just ran and performed better. I think part of that had to do with me only running 2 washers in the type-h, that on top of all the negative effects of running atmospheric dumping on a DSM. I also think that my upgrade to the TurboXS DSBC helped as well.

Good luck with the install and enjoy it, it sounds AWESOME!

Shorty, I'm pretty sure I still have my 90-degree elbow thing laying around the garage somewhere that you can have if you want it. I didn't use it because I had the Dejon Tool piping with a TurboXS flange welded onto it already at the proper angle.

Well, I assume that was the actual owner of the car that just posted, because I know it wasn't me. What we have now is the Dejon Tool upper intercooler pipe with the TXS flange, so I assume it will ba angled correctly. We just played around yesterday and just swapped out his Type-s for the TXS H-34 and vented it and the car wouldn't even stay running for any period of time. If the kid that said his car wasn't right is venting, then he can put as many washers in as he wants and it still will run like ass. We took the car out for spin and when we got on the throttle (with everything back in place, including the Greddy Type-S) we hit about 22-24 lbs of boost and then something strange happened, like the engine kind of said no more LOL. The car drove fine after that, but I can't figure out what happened...did we hit a fuel cut or something? We may have some video of the Type-S compared to the H-34.

I have a turbo xs rfl vented with no maft, it so loud and nice, under high boost it has such a nice loud strong sound, and under low boost if you just let off the throttle it has a cool flutter sound, like that of supras.

it does run bad at times,I just orderd 550's, upper ic, gm maf and translator, so it should be alot better beter.

So... 22-24psi... on a stock t25, with the stock fuel system... yea I would say it was fuel cut. (if your mod list is up to date anyway.)
