Turbo whining

Hey everyone, I've looked this up and can't figure out exactly what mine is.

I have a boost leak from my bov, but tightened up all my clamps and my turbo still whines starting at around 5psi, it isn't extremely loud but does sound like a supercharger. Could this be a boost leak or my turbo on its last leg?

wast gate might be broken, or the turbo death wine

take your intake off and check to see if there's is oil in it. your turbo's seal might be going. also check to see if there is any metal in your oil. sounds like your turbos on its way out the door. also a longer video would help.

That's exactly how a boost leak near the compressor cover will sound. Check the flange / coupler nearest the cover for leaks....and you may as well pull the intake and check shaft play while you're at it.

I checked shaft play and had none THANK GOD!
I tightened my jpipe but it still makes that noise. I'll see tomorrow.

I also spun the turbine and the blades weren't hitting the housing at all.

J-pipe flanges can warp- especially if you're using an aftermarket j-pipe which often warps during the welding process. Use a new gasket and RTV on both sides of the gasket- allow at least an hour for the RTV to dry before boosting the car and you'll be able to rule out any leaks at the j-pipe flange.
