I have a 91 Eagle Talon N/T with a 4g63T swapped into it. The previous owner told me it has the non turbo tranny in it because a turbo tranny wont work in it. Does this sound true to you or could i get a turbo tranny for my car? He said the bolts dont line up right or something, i really need to know soon because my tranny just took a crap on me and i need to find a good used one, so if any of you guys have one or know where i can get one that would be great. Any help is appreciated!!

The flywheels in the non turbo 4g63 motors are smaller, so not a turbo trans wouldn't bolt in with that flywheel correctly. One of the site venders or the classifieds section is the best place to look for a trans.

Ok to just clear this all up for you. You can replace your F5M22(NT) transmission with a F5M33(Turbo FWD) transmission. You just need to use the FWD turbo starter plate, flywheel and clutch. I have this setup in my car now. Good luck.

really? i read a little bit about it and thought about it. I have had the car since febuary and the tranny never had issues until now and im an 18 year old kid with a heavy foot LOL. So now i suppose i gotta figure out if its got a non turbo clutch in it, it has a ACT 2100 clutch installed in it.

Well the turbo and non turbo clutches are interchangeable so that won't really tell you anything. The difference is in the flywheel. Find a FWD turbo flywheel, trans, starter plate, and I believe you'll need the trans mount for a simple swap. We did this on my brother's car this winter and everything went well, just make sure you swap the starter plate...It's a pain if you forget to.

Oh i didnt know that.. Im a little new to these cars yet.. Do you think i should get an aftermarket flywheel then like a Fidanza or something? And is there a big difference with a turbo trans vs. a N/T one?

Yes you do have to chage the mount, I forgot to mention it. Yes change the starter plate first, you have take the flywheel off first.

Yeah if you have the money get the aftermarket flywheel get it. The turbo trans is larger(and heavier), gear ratio is different, and the turbo trans is stronger.

A turbo trans (in good condition) should last a long long time in your car. That is unless your grinding gears and such. I'm not sure on the clutch, the search button is your friend.

One more question, if it has the non-turbo flywheel i will for sure need a turbo clutch right? well thats atleast what im being told from a mechanic. thanx
You need the turbo flywheel for the turbo trans otherwise the starter can't turn the flywheel. The turbo FWD flywheel is bigger than the NT flywheel, so yes you need the turbo clutch.

When you drive a DSM with a "22" tranny then switch to a "33" tranny, you'll definitely notice the heavier clutch pedal pressure being the larger diameter flywheel.

..and ease off on the heavy foot .. might save your 18yr old life one of these days .....

some people use the non turbo transmissions due to the different gearing. well thats what i have heard. me i have a shep stage 3 trans. clutch size, flywheel size are different from n/t to turbo.

Im kind of on the same issue right now, i have a f5m33 trans, bought the same thing, same numbers, idk if i just cant get it in or what. I feel like the teeth just arnt lining up or do is it possible i have wrong trans, maybe a 2g? Sorry to steal your thread just it seemed like mostly everyone on here has more knowledge then i do.

I ended up pulling the clutch off just to make sure it fit and it slides on there just fine, yet i still cant get it to bolt up. Would this have anything to do with my back motormount being broken resulting in the engine being a little cocked, if anyone has any tricks or lives near hartland/peewaukee wisconsin and could come take a look it would be much appreciated :). But if not idea's are always great too.
