I have a 2g manifold that im going to be porting, i just was wondering if i can eliminate the ring gasket that is used for the stock setup. When i port the manifold i will be eliminating the step, making it a full 7cm. The cylindrical shaped matel seal wont fit if i do this, is it needed, or will the flat gasket suffice? Any help is much appreciated.

No, the steel ring gasket is not needed. Toss it out. A true SS 7cm gasket seals just perfectly together w/ no ring gasket. Its basically just there for the stock turbo/manifold setup and is not needed. I don't even think a vendor would carry the ring gasket in a larger size if needed.

And besides, the whole idea of porting is to eliminate as much as possible to maximize flow.
