I've done some research about it but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. Some say it should be ran gasket-less. Others tell me it needs a gasket. What can you tell me? Whenever I tighten the three bolts down, I can still see light shining thru the flange. I don't really have a way to get it flush with the other piece but is a weld possible? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Definitely use a gasket. I absolutely always run gaskets. It should close up all the "light coming through". If that doesnt fix it then stack an extra washer on the bolts so you have a little more range. Hope this helps, any other questions feel free to ask. Good luck on the build :thumb:

Okay thanks, I'll pick up a gasket then. What kind of paint would withstand the heat if I were to paint that housing? As you could see in the picture, it doesn't look all too healthy, LOL.

Im not sure of the paint name but its the same thing people use to paint their valve covers it needs to be able to withstand heat or its just going to buuurn

ceramic coating is the best option for hotside housings. you can have it done at a shop, or pick some up a your local parts store. If you want to do it yourself then you will have to bake it in the oven, so if you're not ok with that then just take it to a shop.

I found some VHT FlameProof that's good for 1300-2000F, that should do the trick. Baking it in the oven wont be a problem so I'll just go that route, plus I like getting the experience for future reference.

VHT flameproof is what i used on my turbo housing and FP exhaust manifold. Good stuff:thumb:

You can find that at almost any auto part store IMO I would use a wire brush to get off the rust and clean it with a good degreaser before painting to get a litltle more life out the paint. Good luck man :thumb:

I'll vouch for this stuff too. I used it on my wastegate dump tube and it stands up to the heat well. Take Jared's advice and clean all surfaces well before painting.
