Turbo timer question. Do I need one?

Ok I tried searching and I couldn't find the answer. I have a 16g evo3 turbo thats water cooled ,and i was wondering if I needed a turbo timer or not. Plans for the car for now are to be my day driver , and sometime a weekend warrior on the track. Thanks for any input.

Well I was just asking because I am always hearing that it's better to run a turbo timer so the turbo don't get hurt and I was just wondering. With mine being water cooled if I needed to even worry about it or not.

if your lazy and dont want to sit in your car for 30 sec then you would want one other wise you can just sit in your car. But you technically dont need to let your car run if your not beating on it.

Oh, alright. Was just checking your general knowledge on it.

A turbo timer allows your vehicle to stay running for a set amount of time after you vehicle is shut off. This allows for low rpm (idle) and cooling of your turbo. This is so you dont have to "sit" and wait that extra 30 seconds to allow your turbo to cool. There is a simple alternative to getting a turbo timer, and that is to drive your car easy before you park it. By doing so, your turbo is not getting extremely used and allows to cool a bit. I have seen wiseman say that they have never had a problem with it, just by taking it easy before the park.

I, myself, am also running an EvoIII 16g with no turbo timer. Don't want one, and don't plan on it.

Ok. That is all I needed to know. Thanks for all the input. The only time i plan on running it hard is when I am on the drag strip.
