Turbo's im looking for a turbo upgrade, i have heard bad thing s about t3/t4's just dont really know what to get. I like the fast spooling, i will probably end up running 370-500 horse so chooseing a turbo for that goal. anyone have any comments about thier turbo experiences or knowlege thanks.
 
370-500 is quite a range...

the t3/t4 turbo you talk about are just housings. The differences between them lie in the trims of the compressor/turbine wheels. You can get them in all sorts of trims for fast spoolup, high end power, etc. In order to run one of those, you'll need a new manifold, o2 housing, and need to work a bit with the oil lines. You can get different compressor housings with a Mitsubishi turbine housing to bolt right up to what you have.

Assuming you have no real big mods yet, I would go with an evo III 16g. It bolts right up to everything you have and is good for around 400hp when you crank it up. I get full spool with mine at about 3k.

The fp3052 is a ballbearing turbo which requires you to supply oil from filter housing and for a turbo like that you've better buy the return kit as well. you will also have to buy their ss 2.5" o2 housing which will also require DP modification. It's really not that much more to go full Garret GT35R setup. That ss o2 housing I believe is another $250.

To bolt up the 3052, you need a new intake pipe (4"), New Air filter (4"), New oil lines, you need to block off your water lines, you have to buy a special flanged external wastegate (they sell it at FP), a new O2 housing (also sold on FP). Thats all I can think of. You're lookin at around $2,000. Good luck Ian :laugh:

I believe you are wrong about the oil feed. On ball bearing turbos, you don't want too much oil, nor too little. When you bolt the feed up to the oil filter housing, it feeds a lot more oil to the turbo, which for a ball bearing, is bad. Now on a mitsu center section or complete mitsu turbo, the more oil the better. Some one back me up as I may be wrong.

Not true, most vendors i spoke to including FP had suggested other wise. In fact, according to SBR, not only it should come from the filter housing, a micron filter is recommended on the feed line.
