Turbo Not Spooling

After the resent rebuilt it get everything bolted back up and go for a ride and about 2,000 rpm i just loose power a little miss. Well i start with checking to see if the plugs are good so on and so forth. Get to the turbo and i start it with the hot side pipe off and hard to keep started but after a while i find the turbo isnt spooling. I put a 10 mm socket on the end and i can spin it with my fingers no shaft play at all. The turbo was dry all but the prelube i put in it. So is this something that may take a half hour of running or is the turbo just need rebuilt or a new one at that. just a stock 14b its my 1st everyday driver next to the srt 4. By the way i have no smoke out the exhaust wastegate is staying closed. Any help would be great thank you. Bret
 
first off update your profile, second is the turbo bolted securely to the mani? Is the mani bolted to the head tight enough, how were the gaskets in the turbo and on mani, etc,
 
every gasket is new everything is torqued down and allowed to warm up and torqued down again. i could be wrong but doesnt the turbo need to spin to even make a difference to have a leak. anyone ever have the problem or is the turbo gone?
 
Double check that your wastegate arm is on your flapper. Mine was falling off all the time until I put the cotter pin in.

did you fix the power loss and the miss? I think that's your computer trying to tell you it's not happy.

Check to see if it spins at idle, if so it's most likely a tuning/computer issue you're going to have to hunt down.
 
does not spin at idle at all and thats what im trying to say. i have spun a turbo before and its a little harder but i can still take 1 finger and turn the blades. but it does not spin at all rev or not. The waste gate is hooked up with cotter pin in it. I do belive the miss is coming from no turbo and the restriction from the turbo could be wrong. Anything i can do to try and free it up a little more?
 
I don't think it is your turbo not spooling that is the problem, my money is on that you just had an intercooler pipe blow off and not notice it..
 
funny thing is i try to find help and all i really get is someone trying to tell you what is wrong with your car because you know nothing. I do thank you guys for trying to help about the wastegate and maybe the gaskets leaking but i mean really i think its the intercooler piping when im telling you the turbo is not spinning but hey what do i know im the one with it right infront of my face. thanks guys but im going to try this one on my own.

:cry: OUCH! So why post a question if you don't like the answers? Is there one answer in particular your wanting to hear?
I'll throw another one out then. You said the turbo was dry, all but prelube. You think perhaps it's not getting enough oil?

There are two things this could be. #1 a non sealing wastegate, in which case it would still spin a little bit. I get 1-2psi when my WG arm falls off. #2, a broken turbo. I get zero boost when when my turbos are broken. Sorry bud, I'd find a junkyard 14b, slap it on, and dissect that one to figure out what was wrong with it. Not enough oil, coked bearings, effed up wheels, it's something.

My turbo wouldn't spool, so I took it apart. Found 1/2 an exhaust valve from when the previous numbnuts owner broke the timing belt. Same turbo still makes 10psi, we'll see how it likes 15 in a little bit :D
 
i got around to working on it a little this morning and it just took some stopping on it a bit to get it really freed up. I guess just ####y footing it isnt what needs to be done. dont have a after market gauge but stock is reading 7 not 0 like before. thanks for the help. i know the broken valve story came from the last guy to. made sure i got it all out.
