so i looked around (a little) but didnt find a direct answer for dsm's

wondering if some of you fab guys can shed some light on primary size. i was doing some looking at ecoboost engines and they have extremely small primaries as well as collectors. im led to believe this greatly aids in spool time (the fact that the 3.5 uses gt15's is probably not detracting from said spool time) and am wondering about other effects.
exhaust backpressure? (ecoboost has tivct so i know they can combat that easy enough)
rpm choke point?

not that i have a new setup planned anytime soon, but my thirst for knowledge is insatiable...haha. all opinions welcome!
