ok, 2g 5-speed awd. 255hlp, mr.gasket fuel filter, -6an lines, Aeromotive AFPR, 750cc FIC, 3in GM MAF w/MAFT, DSMlink, FMIC, ok everything else i need, I just need some help with the turbo. Its going to be a weekend street car, and track car. Want quick spool but able to hold till 7000rpm or higher. Need it to be in a 2g Exhaust Flange. Need the 500-800 price range. Trying to get car done soon, been waiting 2 years now so, just need some good advice and real facts(not i heard or my friend has) what you know works and is worth the money. Thanks always:thumb:

What are your goals for the car? Pump gas or race gas? Do you plan on running water/alch injection?

Easy 12 second daily driver: MHI Evo III 16G.

Easy 11 second daily driver: FP Green. This is an amazing turbo. I wish more people ran it. It is slightly out of your budget, however.

A 20G would fall somewhere between the two. Going faster on any of these turbos is not out of the realm of possibility.

Matt.

You don't have too many options other then a 16g w/ 2g install kit or one of the v-trims from bullseye. After you get a bigger turbo, + internal wastegate + oil feed and drain lines, You'll be way over your limit.

I plan on running it on the street on weekends with pump gas. C16 on the track on weekends also. i would like not to have to get water/meth injection. The green is a sweet ass turbo, 1200 bucks for it. Thats a lot. I dont know i will probley just have to get the Evo III Big16g.

You spend all this money on supporting mods and then cheap out on the turbo??

Go with a 50 trim, if not bigger. Otherwise your just cheating yourself...

Just because a lot of people run the Evo III doesn't mean it's a bad turbo. It's actually very good. It can push over 40 LB./min. with the right tuning, and has put cars into the 11's. It also has excellent spool time, and will reach full boost very quickly. These characteristics make it a very good choice as a street/strip turbo, and the price only helps elevate this. Many folks here are entirely too eager to "go big" for one reason or another, and don't forget that purchasing a Garett also means buying more parts just to make it fit.

Matt.

Yes. However, buying once instead of twice is always better. Buying one turbo that will be good for your current goal and great for your later goals is far cheaper than paying for an evo3 now, then another turbo that will meet your later goal when the time comes... This is where the typical 50-trim comes into play. It is more efficient than the EVO3 at the EVO3's optimum level and can flow more and be more efficient at higher boost than the EVO3 16G. It spools at 3500rpms to boot. There is nothing to lose!

I think i am going to go with the PTE 50 trim. Its only 879 and is good enough for my needs. How much could power could I see from it?

I'd say an AGP rs49t, but they don't sell those anymore.

So the best alternatives would be an FP Green or a PTE 50 trim. Anything with a 50 trim compressor wheel would be ideal. An A/R around .63 for decent spool up without compromising top end.

look at SBR's dual ball bearing g-50, that looks like a sick turbo. don't mess with a 16G, you have enough to tune for more power then that would deliver. 50 trim, green, 20G, are some good dsm proven turbos

Is this with an internal or external wastegate? It's been rated at 425 hp, whp if I'm not mistaken, possibly more if you get it ported.
