i was just wondering if there is a right and a wrong way to install the gaket from the turbo to the manifold i just replaced the gasket and it is leaking like a son of a Bit%$ i put some sea foam in the vacume line and smoke started pouring out of the tubo to manifold gaket ### HELP!!!!

I installed mine, torqued down the bolts, drove it around for a minute or two so things heated up, then came back and re-torued them. Mine didnt leak at all. What were you torquing them to?

Im having the same problem. I cant get a gasket to seal. I bought the metal gasket from auto zone, it leaked. I bought somekind of special fibre material, it lasted about 30 miles. I made my own out of stainless steel, and guess what it leaked. I noticed the factory gasket is more than one layer, but it is too small for a ported manifold. Waht can you do its driving me nuts, I keep throwing p0170 fuel trim code and causing a cel. It never did this before the exhaust leak.

But is there any specific way to install the gasket i think its on wrong it just dosent look right

I use no gasket for this area because they always blow out, esp if you have a 16G and no internal heat shield sleeve tube thingy. If you have the housing and exh manif off the car you can see if they will mate up flush here. I had to sand or file on one a little but it has been together for more than 50k miles and no leaks.

Same situtation. I have a upgraded gasket plate (metal) which is supposed to be good. I torqued the bolt's and the leak didn't get any better along with sanding the two surfaces flush.

Went to Mitsubishi :dsm: and ordered stock gasket's and haven't had a problem!

Adding on to the original question in this thread...when you put on a new gasket to seal the oil lines to the turbo center section, the gasket from the turbine to the O2 housing, the gasket from the manifold to the turbo, and the gasket from the head to the manifold, do you need any sealants on these gaskets before you install them or do you just put them on with no sealants?
