1G Turbo gaskets keep failing

I've heard people using a long piece of sand paper on top of a granite to eliminate high spots

I saw that post on here it's a neat Idea but I used about a foot long file and worked it in all directions so I am pretty confident the turbo mounts flat cause it's a fairly small surface area. Now the manifold to head surface I can see having a flat surface is ideal for the much longer area. I ran my file across it till it was fairly level but I dont think it's that critical since there is some flexibility when bolting it down.
