Alright somebody needs to help explain this? This is my manifold to turbo steel gasket and as you can see, the corner is blown out. But this gasket is only 2 months old. I put it in when I installed my 16g 2-3 months ago. It looks like the gasket itself has a few heat cracks in it. I noticed it today when I heard an exhaust leak. Some application notes; I have a 2g ex. manifold that is gasket-matched on the runner side, not the collector side. and my turbine housing is ported. And I don't know if this is relevant but I blew my intercooler pipe yesterday, so I don't know if blowing an intercooler pipe has anything to do with blowing that gasket. Thanks ahead for input!

It is not sealing properly and is burning the gasket. Make sure both surfaces are perfectly flat, get them milled if their not and torque the bolts down to the proper torque with the correct conical washers, and it won't happen again.

when you put a new gasket on your turbine housing, do you feel ANY over hang on the gasket and the turbine port? or is it smooth all the way out from the port? If your finger get caught up at all on the gasket then you need to grind away the excess until its smooth. Are you sure it wasn't ported to a 7cm? That could be the case you are putting a 6cm gasket on a 7cm port.

Oh yeah, those turbine gaskets. I had this problem a while back and switched to the 7cm^2 Evo3 gasket. Been great ever since. Just make sure you get something you know will work good otherwise it can destroy your turbo. Not the best of chances but it's happened.

Just off the top of my head these links came to mind

Yeah, my old one was the stainless steel one and I think I got it from extreme psi. But I just ordered that FFWD copper one so we'll see how that turns out. Thanks for the help guys!

This might sound like a stupid question, but I have to ask. You did have all four bolts holding the turbo to the manifold right? I've seen gaskets look like that on dsm's missing a bolt.

Yes, I have all the bolts and they were all tight.

Alright I had this gasket in for about a week and I raced it on friday night, then it blew out again on sunday. This is the copper gasket and it blew out the same corner. I gotta figure something out.

A damaged seating surface will cause that type of failure.
Follow what TSITurbo95 (post #2) has recommended (mill the surfaces) and it will correct the problem.

Yeah, I'm starting to believe that something's not right either with the manifold or the turbine housing. I wouldn't even know where to take them to get milled? just any machine shop?

Did you fix your gasket problem?
