I'm replacing my stock turbo with a FP Big28. I have the old turbo out (boy that thing was wrecked! - dumped 1/2 quart of oil into my intercooler in ~30 seconds), and I had a couple of questions. FYI, the Big28 is bolt-on, so all of the assembly/disassembly is identical to the stock T25.
1) Is it worth the bother to salvage the stud in the turbo exhaust flange (there are 3 bolts holding the O2 sensor housing to the turbo exhaust flange and one stud+nut closest to the front of the car). Should I just buy a new one (and pitch the old one along with the completely totaled T25)? If not, what contraption/tool is required to extract the stud from the old turbo exhaust flange?
2) Regarding this same stud/nut, what's the best way to get the proper torque spec on that nut when I mate the stock O2 housing to the Big28; I can't get a torque wrench (actually, a torque ratchet) on the nut even with a universal extension. Could I go with one of those open-end wrench "head" tools with the 3/8 socket adapter in it (lop the head off of a wrench and punch a 3/8"x3/8" hole in the neck of the wrench's arm and you get a similar tool)? Do I have to compensate in the torque setting anywhere (I'm a mechanical engineer, and my schooling tells me, "no", but I'd like confirmation)?
3) What's the best tool for installing the oil feed line to the turbo (the fitting on the top of the turbo)? Using an open-end wrench, it takes about 20 minutes of rotating a smidge, flipping the wrench, rotating another smidge, flipping the wrench back, and repeating this 132412 times. Also, how do I get the correct torque on this oil fitting? I can't get a socket on it due to the oil line. Do I use the "beheaded wrench+1/4" drive" tool here, too?
