turbo boosting when car is stoped

recent problem just 2 days old its seems, but when im at red lights or sitting in park my factory turbo gauge boosts up, there is not turbo spool sound, and when I let of the brake and the car starts rolling it drops down again and works like normal. Also it only does this when the car is cold, when it warms up it goes away. Any reason why it does this?

The stock gauge is crap..You should invest in a -30+30 turbo gauge..

Stock gauge is based on engine load and is junk like said above. Get an actual boost gauge. And you probably have a boost leak. The stock ones do seem to jump erratically when there is a fairly large boost leak present. Atleast mine always did.

do i really need a -30 +30 gauge even if i never plan on adding that much boost

Yes for peace of mind and for the simple fact that you always want to know how much boost your running. The stock gauge doesn't tell you much so just get a aftermarket one it doesn't have to be a -30 to +30 but at least a -20 to +20.

Autometer 30/30 gauges are quite reliable in my experience and affordable also.

You'll peg out a -20 gauge on decel, but that's not a huge deal. I'd pick up the +20 instead of the +30 if I was never going over 20 PSI just for the increased resolution.

Exactly stock gauge is crap, you can pick up -30/+30 cheap all day.

Tim look on ebay for an autometer boost and vacuum gauge..It should be much on ebay..You miz well get a gauge pod to mount it in as well on ebay....Unless you want to go more of a stock look..You could make a plate or buy one from the vendors that goes in the top vent..Or you also could mount above the radio..But then you would have to look down to see your boost pressure..

Alot of people like more named brand..Like myself I like autometer..But a gauge is a gauge, and as long as it goes up to the psi that you will most likely run, then go for it..But you will still need a gauge pod For the a pillar if that's where you are going to mount it..

And also as long as it does vaccum too, then I say go for it..

well i talked to a guy at autozone and he said that theres suck(autozone brand), so i dont want to get ripped off with a autozone gauge

If you are ever planning to up the boost levels on your car, do yourself a favor and get a good quality boost gauge. I would personally recommend Autometer. They are great quality products, are very accurate, and won't break the bank.

if you're looking into gettin a boost guage just get the sunpro gauge at autozone for like $20 its good to tell if your spooling boost or not on those gauges. essentially the turbo doesnt stop spooling the stock gauge just tells you its spooling but not how much boost you're getting

While the factory gauge is junk for reading boost it's really good at displaying what the ECU thinks is going on. If the gauge is bouncing around that either a sensor is going bad or the ECU is.
