Curious for those people that tune with this. Do you tune everything through maft first including wot?
And use safc to fine tune?

Or everything but wot and use the safc for wot?

I wouldnt even bother with the MAFT unless u want to vent the BOV to atmosphere. I use just the SAFC with no issues. If you want to use both anyway then just set the MAFT to base setting for whatever size injectors your using. Then fine tune with the SAFC. Too much of a PITA to "fine tune" a MAFT.

I'm looking to remove the 1g maf and maft is the best option next to sd. I'd go sd but no link=no sd.

Also using it to compensate for 950cc fic

And I thought so. I'll do a rough tune on wot and use safc for fine tuning

THIS!

MAFT made me buy a dsm link, was a pain in my ass and decided to do it right.

What was so hard to tune the maft? From the instruction I read it seems pretty straight forward. But I have no personal exp. So will see.

Unless ofcourse you didn't extend the harness to the cabin then I see why.

Im extending the harness all the way in the cabin so it's 1. Out of the heat/climate 2. So I can tune it like an safc. Which is is easy/straightforward.

While I do plan to get link sometime later the price is not practical right now. I kinda underplanned the cost of my build by 600. Which is what it'll cost me to buy a link LOL I basically got everything I need except for 1(link)

My setup is basically good for 350-400whp so I'll be boosting low untill I get link. And once I do I'll swap injectors to 1200 and go crazy.

When I ran that setup, I used the maft to set a base for my injector size. Then I used the safc to fine tune it. I've never used that setup with that big of injectors without having boost cut issues.
I've usually tried to go with link with anything bigger than 650.

This will be on e85 so the injectors will be around 650cc due to the 30% thing with e85. From my understanding based on my research.
Based on those info I found I shouldn't have an issue.

But we will see I should have the car running in a week and when my clutch is broken in I'm dropping in all the goodies. So I'd say 2 weeks and I'll report back.

I've never used it to tune e85, but I've done it with link. I wouldn't think it would be that difficult either way. Just make sure you've got a good Wideband.

Is he going to vent his bov to the atmosphere though?

Yes going FMIC. Coming in the mail as we speak. Going 3" post FMIC(since my ic comes with 3" piping. And 2.5 or maybe 2" post FMIC.

With that said custom intake piping for pre turbo. So I'd rather have it not recirc.

Venting is a nice bonus

You'll tend to catch a lot of flack for venting to the atmosphere on here. I'm running a gm maf with mine vented, and like the vented bov sound.

Lol I don't really care about peoples opinion on things like that. It's my car so I set it up to my liking.

You could get ## ECU eepromed and if its not get a EEprom ecu and socket it then buy a EEProm burner or a find a Ostrich for cheap and tune ## car urself with out using a MAFT or SAFC and do it right. Or just run a EVO 8 Maf if you want or go true speed density. There are more options then a MAFT SAFC or Link. And depending how you get ahold of things It can be done for well less the the price of a new SAFC or link.

All have been considered.

1g maf vs 2g maf vs evo maf vs gm maf vs SD

The first 3 offers no injector compensation so they are out.

SD is still my first choice but no link = no SD

So with that said i hardly call it a choice but yea LOL

EPROM or getting a non EPROM socketed will cost me around 150. vs 175 for my neo (cheaper if I wanted safc II but has less tuning points)

So that's 150 plus tuning choice.

I don't know about you but have you burn a chip before?
Assuming the chip are reburnable my research shows that it might just turn out to be a nightmare for us not very tech guys with little background on tuning other than safc. I would much rather pay my1gdsm to burn me a chip than spend about the same if not more with a headache. But I can't resell it and get the same money back when I go link = lost money vs reselling the neo. I'm sure I'll get more for it too.

Ostrich i can't find used.... Nuff said LOL

I think your comparison on price is skewed if your willing to buy other stuff used why would you compare it to buying new safc/maf?

I certainly don't like buying certain stuff new like an safc I think new is a rip off since it can be had cheaper and function the same.

Safc will always be cheaper option unless you have an socketed EPROM already. But most arent that lucky.

With that Said given my situation(got a car thats 99% stock before mods) I think this was the best choice for the time being. I'm done with all other mods engine wise so link is the next buy.

The GM maf offers no injector compensation the MAFT does. And I am also all about making something work with less parts the better, less parts to break. Also that's why the AFC is there to compensate for the bigger injectors.

But I also agree you should do to your car what you want so if you are getting the GM maf and maft yes get the extension cable and mount it in the car.

Did the NEO ever receive a firmware update or something to make it work properly?

yes it does/updated

can the maft be used with evo maf?

iether way gm maf is as cheap as the evo maf so i think the perks are a lot better with gm. i have yet to see a maft with evo for sale.

anything to allow the safc to be used as a fine tuning device is nicer than using it as a main tuner to add/subtract a lot of fuel.

anyways

/thread.

i just picked up a eprom/ecm link for cheap. finally got a chance to get it first LOL
so my maft and neo will be for sale :thumb:
:hellyeah: ecm link :hellyeah: yesss LOL
