Hey guys, I installed a walbro 190 a few months ago, recently about a month or so ago it started to whine. I just found it weird that it whined after not right away.
Now I noticed I have some bad knock, like 20+ sometimes. Is it possible that the walbro is not running at its full eficiency now??
I am just noticing the knock now because the roads are finally dring up up here in the north....
If I hammer it the problem is more noticeable, but if I gradually build boost it is not as bad.
Before I only had maybe 6 counts at the most.
I am running a ported 14b and o2, FMIC, which both were just installed, but it started the problem before.
I am running, well trying to run about 15 psi. I have rewired the pump and have the braided AN fuel line upgrade but no other controll.
My o2s are around mid 80's, cycles good, EGT's are good untill I get the knock. My fuel trims are stuck maxed at 118.7% so I know I am lean but they have always been there, before the prob showed up. New o2, new fuel filter and wires last fall, new plugs ...
Fuel controll is on the top of my next mod list....

not to knowlegable about this situation but it doesn't seem like you need a afpr. Maybe some bigger injectors. It wouldn't hurt to get the bigger injectors anyways. That is a pretty odd situation. I would suggest the afpr if you had a 255 but you dont so the stock should be running it just fine.

Anyone else?

I am running NGK BPR7ES gapped at .028, with sunoco 94 gas.
I actually had 91 in the other day cause thats all I could get. For fun I logged and had up to 40 counts of knock. Filled up with 94 and back down to 15+/- which pretty much shows that it is my fuel system that need tunning.... so I am thinking the pump is ok...
Time for a SAFC...

C'mon dude.

.80 O2's are PERFECT FINE on a 90 car.

In my 93, I run .86-.88 with no knock, on pump gas, on a stock SMIC.

90's have a tendency to read quite a bit lower; 0.7X is not uncommon.

Don't worry about the O2's.

If you think the pump is banjaxed, toss a fuel pressure gauge on there to see what is happening.

WOW I am sticking my foot in my mouth all over today. Your right for a 1G with 93 .86 is optimal.

I stand corrected.

I guess it pays to look at the year first huh.

But I will not agree with anything LESS than .86 on pump gas.

In that case you just put your foot in your mouth again.

For 91+ cars, the mid .8's are perfectly fine. For 90's, you can go into the .7's without an issue.

Thanks for the info guys, I didn't even realize there was a difference for o2 readings with the 90'sOMG
I have an old school 5 konb safc on the way....:thumb:
Will give that a go, if it is still bad I will swap the pump, Also what about the FPR?? could that cause the prob??
I just find it weird that if I let it build boost gradually it barley gets any knock but if I floor it, it is bad...
Tonight I noticed my TPS is only at 99.6%, is that ok or should it be right at the 100% mark??
Thanks again

Matt
