Have my 420a N/T...turbo ready to install but i want to know if i need to change my setup or this one will work fine.......S-AFC NEO with Aeromotive FPR and 255 Fuel pump for 6PSI to start off with???? I've been seeing that most use the Portfueler or Megasquirt. I have already purchased the NEO so kinda wanna use that =/....any answers???????????????

SAFCs don't work too well with our setups, what size injectors are you planning to use? The hardest part of our setup is the tuning. With that 1:1 fpr, you may not get the adequate fuel mixture that you need, everyone that ran 6-8psi with their stock fuel setup had either an fmu or sfmu, which dealt with ratio disks...

I personally ran a 1:1 fpr and the SAFC (first with stock injectors and then with 440's), I grew very frustrated that the car was bogging and running really rough. I couldn't get the car tuned right; even paid for a professional tune on the dyno w/ no luck. I switched to the 8 injector setup ( a stage where your Aeromotive FPR would come in handy) and never looked back. I also paid nothing extra out of pocket because I was able to sell my old fuel setup on ebay and use it for the new fuel setup.

if your going to stick with that setup i'd rec. selling the neo, eventhough it is a nice looking gadget, get an sfmu and put the aeromotive 1:1 off to the side for now (until you upgrade your components and go with a different fuel setup).

I don't mean to discourage you, but a little discouragement now will save you a big headache in the long run.

To prevent confusion, you CAN'T tune with the Aeromotive FPR. The Aeromotive uses a 1:1 referrence to boost, you cannot add anymore or any less without some type of fuel management device.

The Reason you can sort of tune with the SFMU is because it uses ratio disks. It will add the appropriate fuel mixture with the new boost(once again, depending on the ratio disk you use). This setup is efficient for the 6psi that you are currently aiming for.

Hope this helps a little...

I want to keep stock injectors until i plan on turning up that boost. At only 6psi...my car will not run ok with tuning off the S-AFC NEO?? The unit does look real nice and i deffinetly want to use it if its possible but not if im going to sacrafice how the car drives.

SAFCs don't really do shit for 2GNTs. The ONLY time I would suggest someone with a 2GNT consider an SAFC would be if they had aggressive cams and needed something cheap to lean out their idle a bit. The MAP set up we have means using the SAFC to add fuel at any point isn't happening.

Now that the Neo is the hot ticket item in the ricer world, put that shit on eBay and get as much of your money back as possible. Then use that money to get the stuff you need. You can have Megasquirt running both your fuel and ignition for under $500. SAFC in any form is going to *maybe* help you out where you need to lean things out and that's it.

It's cool looking. I agree with that. You already paid for it. I can can totally understand wanting to hang onto it, but it's an exceptionally poor value for you on your car and, if you install it, you'll lose a lot of the resale value over new in box status. Besides, if someone asks why you're selling it, you can be the cool dude who says, "I've decided to go stand alone on my car and won't need this thing."

Good luck either way.

I think im going to take everyones advise and go with something else like Megasquirt. Being that i have stock internals/injectors...is the Megasquirt still a good application?

The megasquirt is not for the novice tuner in any way, it is definately the best option since you have so much control over your components. Whether it is the "best" choice for you is completely relative to how far you want to go with this car.

The MS system is almost completely DIY even down to assembling the board yourself(soldering and everything), although you can pay someone to assemble for you. From there it is in depth self education on how the components work , as well as tapping in the new sensors, dealing with the software, etc... There are links in this forum under engine management that specifically pertain to a person going the route of the MS.

Do some research before making a hasty decision that you may not be ready for...

For your current setup, take BigRand's advice... Trust dr1665 get your money back for that neo and put it towards the sfmu...

If you decide later which route you would like to go, like rebuild your internals for more boost, then you can look into the MS or the 8-injector setup.

Good luck!
