I have a friend that has a 97 talon tsi that did a fresh build with a 50trim turbo and external wastegate. He said it is not spooling past 2psi. Anyone know of what could be the problem? I told him to look for boost leaks and possibly adjust the BOV.

ok, Thank you all for your input. I may swing by his garage and check it out and do a BLT. Just trying to get ideas before I head there.

Also check for pre turbo exhaust leaks around the head to exhaust manifold gasket and between the exhaust manifold and turbine housing gasket. Double check the vacuum lines on the wastegate to make sure they are correct. I had a similar issue in my car and turned out my boost gauge line had a kink it and wasn't reading accurately. Does his car feel like a slug at only 2psi or does it feel somewhat normal?
