So my rear defrost does not work, and my oil gauge is buggy. SO I went looking around and fixed a few things but there are some I can not.

The rear defrost does not work. The light turns on, you can hear it click or whatever that noise is when it turns on but there is no heat on the window.

maybe this is why? I looked everywhere and could not find where this plugs into.

Next I was looking under my passenger seat and I seen this lump so I pulled it out and as I did there was a HUGE spark, it scared the crap out of me. I dont know what these are for.

Next, when I take off you can hear this rattle / ting kinda noise and I happened to look under my car near the exhaust and it is not even a half inch away from this strut, I am pretty sure the exhaust is not lined up correctly. if you just tap the exhaust with your hand it makes a ting noise.

What are these wires?

Also should I replace all the wireing here they are wrapped in electrical tape and feel really brittle.

Thanks for your time.

Does your Center high (3rd) brake light work? That plug looks like the one for the one in my wing.

Exhaust looks beyond fubar. All those wires under your passenger seat are probably for the amp that was in your car (Call mitsubishi have them run your vin and tell you if you had the Infiniti Stereo from the factory)

Thank Snowboarder714 and Turbosax2 for Ye Olde 2g Engine Bay Connectors Bible

There should multiple hangars on the exhaust similar to the one pictured. I think there is 1 on each side by the cat. 1 before the Subframe, and 1 after it, as well as 1-2 on the muffler. Been a long time since I mucked about with my exhaust.

I think the one I am holding in my hand is for my horn, which would explain why it does not work LOL.

Abe, I was getting that same feeling LOL.

Any pointers as to what might be the reason my rear defrost not working?
The light on the push button works i hear the click noise when it gets pressed but no heat on the rear it did not melt the frost yesterday LOL.

Alright, lets see how my memory serves me.
1: Do you have a 3rd brake light installed? If not, thats most likely where that one goes.
2: Stock amp wiring without the connector on it, or modded stereo wiring. Track it back to the source (most likely the rear of the stereo) and disconnect them. Fire hazard and the source of many other problems down the road
3, 4, 5: Aftermarket/custom exhaust setup. Some fit perfectly, others not so much. As long as it isn't dragging along the ground, and has sufficient support, you should be ok. To rid of that banging, you could put something in the way (heat wrap?) or bend it out of the way.
6: Looks like the stock fog light plug. check the other side of the car for the same plug.
7: Looks like the pressure switch from the PS pump, what it's doing over there, i haven't the slightest clue, i'm only going by the sheathing and plug type. I could be wrong on that one
8: Doesn't hurt to check the connections, and secure those wires to something.
9: Looks like the Rad fan plug. Should be secured to the fan bracket at the top of the rad. Also, the oil pressure sensor wire is hanging there. Again, secure against the filter housing before you lose the whole thing.

Hope that helps.

John thank you!

I will be sure to go over those. Yah all that loose wiring makes me nervous. Don't think I have a 3rd brake light.

Anyone have any ideas as to what to look for as to why the rear defrost is not working?

The defrost light on the dash near the emergency light switch lights up when it is pressed.

So I traced them wires and they lead right up into the dash, some of them look to be the same that goes into the wire harness.

So instead of ripping all the tape off these wires I just used black electric tape on all of the exposed wires individually and then wrapped all of them tight with electric tape. I will eventually take out the entire dash to trace each wires to get rid of them but not enough time right now.

this is connected to my ebrake

this is right behind the glove compartment, found it while I was traceing wires.

Another concern of mine is it seems to be rusty under my center console you can see in the pictures, any ideas how I can get rid of that?

Just curious if anyone else had some input.

I dont know where to begin to start to look for rear defrost to make sure its even going to the rear window.
Also does that white plug go somewhere?
