I'm trying to get the oil pan off of my 97 talon but the transfer case is in the way. I tried taking the transfer case off but the pan is in the way of that. Either way I can't seem to get enough clearance to remove one or the other first. I've spent hours on it today, so what do I do?

Sounds like the input shaft to the tcase is sliding out of the transmission and is stuck in the tcase. Take a pair of vice grips and cloth and hammer, put the cloth around the shaft, put the vice grips on HARD, and hammer it back into the trans, make sure you put something soft under the tcase when it drops :) Or take a long flathead and pry it against the vice grips. Either way works fine.

well I got the pan off and sure enough from left to right from the top: the fourth rod bearing is gone. Huge chuncks are in the oil pan. LOL! So tomarrow I replace them put it back together and I should be good to go. Thank God.
