Sup guys for some reason the trunk on my 99 spyder doesnt pop up when I pull the trunk lever on the floor near the drivers side . The trunk opens but because it doesnt pop up, once I pull the lever and go to the rear of the car to try and open the trunk, the trunk remains locked. Anyone experience this or know why happens?

Thanks

i think you have the same rubber bumpers in the trunk that you have under the hood if you do then just adjust them up and see if that will provide the leverage you need.

A possibility would be your hatch struts just aren't strong enough to keep the hatch from locking itself after you pop it.

the rubber bumper idea is close...however there is no adjustment to them. i had the same problem on my 98. you could pop the hatch and it would be loose, but not totally unlocked. when you have the hatch open, look to the left by the washer fill cap (same location on the right side) and you will see a rubber piece about 1" x 3" with "fingers/tabs" on the top. the "fingers/tabs" fold over after a while and will not raise the hatch enough to clear the second part of the latch. you can buy a new set from the dealer for less than $10.

I know on mine you have to friggin like rip the lever out of the bracket to get it to unlock, takes so much pulling power.

I think I fixed the problem guys. I just turned the little black rubber stoppers found on each end of the trunk about a quarter of an inch clockwise. Now when I pull the lever it pops open. ROFL

am I missing something? Does my '96 Talon have a trunk lever? I thought the lever on the driver's floor was just for the gas filler door????

i have the same problem with my car but a way to get it open is put like a screwdriver or something under the latch to hold it up then run back there and pull it up. you might have to pull kinda hard but itll be straight. the reason mine does this is because of the latch... it basically will open it and then kind of close back on it or hold onto that latch part.

I had the same problem and just went out there and there were two rubber pieces that i turned down a couple of turns and ther are these plastic pieces on the side of the hatch. I loosen then pushed them all the way down and tried hitting the latch..... and it opened. Finally.
