I think im having a ground problem on my drivers side window switch. I checked the ground for the switch and there is no continuity to the chassis. I checked the blue wire with black stripe (12 volt supply) for voltage with the key in the on position and there was no voltage, I think that the relay has poor grounding and that might be the problem. My book says that they both ground on the left side of the dash. However, I cannot find it. So if you can give me some specific tips on the location and what it looks like it would be highly appreciated.

Even if you don't have a ground, you should still have battery voltage to the switch with the key on.

Mind throwing up a wiring diagram for reference if possible? I don't have one right here.

I had this problem too, the thing is that there isnt a constant ground to the doors for the windows, it is set onto a 10 second delay so you can still roll the windows up after you shut the car off. I found this out after a few hours of search around and testing EVERYTHING. If you need a constant ground my idea would be to run a complete new wire into the car and ground it yourself then use it.

What zachakagoat said is true. A redundant ground isn't going to hurt anything.

However since you said your not getting battery voltage to the switch that can't be your only problem.

well i want to know where the ground is so i can see what the problem is plus i am to fat to rewire the relay that under the dash shit is complicated when you have a belly, so i would like to know where the ground is first and decide if i can fix it

He said he checked the supply voltage to the relay? So if the relay is not getting power its not going to do anything no matter how many grounds you put on it. Make sure you have 12v going to the relay if not, start there.

You don't have to run a wire the the same grounding point. ANY place on chassis will work.

ok, the relay is not giving voltage to the window switch, the window switch has no ground.

my best guess is that the ground for the relay electro magnet side and the window switch are shared and it has a problem. i dont want to run a new one from the relay it is a big wad of wires and i dont want to mess with it if its not needed.

i just want to know if anyone knows where the ground for these two wires is.

Just got buy a chilton's manual it has all the wiring diagrams in it. Just trace back wires, dont get cranky with use because your too lazy to search :p :nono: LOL. It took me 3 hours to find all the boostleaks in my car but I didn't give up, cars are complicated get over it :p

i have spent several hours lookin, i have all data at school, mitchell at work chiltons at home and none of them say where it is. i don't want to take apart a huge loom to find it.

and i was getting cranky because people kept saying do this and that when it isn't the cure
