ok i recently purchased a 93 eclipse GS. it's a 5 speed, but its also the base 1.8 SOHC...i have not been able to find anything for the non-turbo gs'...would an exhaust for a 1g turbo fit my car, or any other basic mods like intake or headers? i didnt see anytihng like this in the faq forums so dont ban me please...just trying to get some help.

Sell the car, save up 3000 and get a turbo awd :thumb: . You're best off doing that, especially if you are considering going fast, awd boost is the way to go. If it looks good, try selling it to a teen going into college tell him its great on gas.. Be like I'm askin X but I'll take X (as much as u want).. thats what I would do, good luck.

well i jsut bought the car three days ago...trust me i wanted an awd turbo...but there werent any for sale locally within price range. i needed a car quick bc my last car died on me. it was a bit rushed and right now im kind of kicking myself. i jsut put on new brake pads (he said the brakes were great...yea the rear ones were) and tie rod ends today, im putting on a new pass side axle tomorrow and new rotors next week sometime...so either way mods are taking a back seat. my friend is pressuring me to tkae his muffler (hes giving it to me) but it involves hacking and i want to do everything on this car right. i was gonna remove the airbox and put on an open air filter w/ stock hose until i found that the sensor is on the box and i dont wanna jsut leave it out. anyone have suggestions?

I strongly recommend just restoring it, dont put more than 600$ into it, and try getting most/all your money back if not more.. Just wait it out if possible, if you REALLY need to drive, then keep it.. I mean if you go to the tech articles for 1g dsm n/a the third step in modding is turbo engine swap. If I were you I would wait it out, I'm dying for a dsm, but I'm waiting out till I can find a decent AWD turbo, Just yesterday I passed up 6 DSM's because they weren't what I wanted. I coulda had a nice AWD n/a dsm, but I'm boosting all the way.

yea fair enough i mena like i said money was the biggest issue...i wanst particularly looking at DSM's, just the best thing that fell into my price range, which happened to be the eclipse. im probably doing a motor swap to a turbo later but thats way down the road. has anyone here heard of slowboy racing? bc they are close to me and ive talked to a couple dsm guys from around where i live and thye both suggested them to me.

They're good, but before you dip into your dsm and start modding it, do some research.. what do you want out of your car? Low 1/4 mile times? Just looks? Just a nice looking car with balls? Know that your FWD isn't the best for lowest 1/4 times, although there have been some low 1/4 times on FWD that were very nicely tuned. You really have to think about what you're going to do in the future with the car.

definitely jsut want speed...doing little in the looks department, carbon hood, clear corners...not much more than that.

Do a vote if you wish, having good traction on launch will save you some time. You know what I'm going to say so I won't even say anymore. :thumb:

so no one knows where i can find non turbo parts, even basic ones?

will basic air intakes fit?

research reasearch and more research go through the galleries in here and find out the non turbo 1st gen and email or send a note to those owners. in the world of tuning if you cant find it, then customize it. it always go back to how deep your pockets are.
try nopi.com or summitracing.com even jcwhitney.com these websites will give you an idea of whats out there.
go to cardomain.com see what people have done to their cars.

like someone said up top what are you trying to achieve? how much are you willing to spend? if i was you i would fix it up. make it look decent, and sell it orrrrrrrrrr turbo swap.
