I'm trying to install my punishment fmic and it looks like the fan needs to be trimmed or replaced. Does anyone have any pics of what needs to be trimmed?
Also, if I leave the fan off will it cause the car to over heat or is it just for precautions?

it depends on your setup... most likely you can run the car with just 1 fan and your car will not overheat. My car for example i run with both fans on all of the time.. My front mount blocks ALOT of airflow to my radiator and my manifold is very big and is only about an inch away from my radiator so it gives off a lot of heat to the radiator. You can trim the plastic shroud of the fan if you want though to make it fit.... or you can always buy a slimline fan.... :hmm:

i just went with 2 slimline fans but one of the fans wires shorted out so im just running a 12" fan. Theres no overheating at all plus i dont have the ac condensor in so that improves the airflow to the radiator

According to the OP's profile, he is basically running a stock DSM.
I agree if he had a FMIC or a aftermarket exhaust manifold/turbo, then he may have over heating problems.
Of course it is way hotter in Texas, than were I am now.
I know cars will over heat very fast down there.

Your best bet is to bite the bullet and buy some slim line fans.
