I just got my first 2g over the weekend. I paid $1500 from a kid in toledo who apparently beat the crap out of it and never changed the oil.
Being impatient I began pulling the eng/trans yesterday morning. By 1pm I found out just how trashed it was!
I knew the engine was trash and already planned on a swap. I have a 1g already with most of the parts I need and all the rest I will have to buy from a junkyard or ebay(since I'm still a newbie I can't post want ads yet ..hint hint).

When I first got home sun night the car was sitting in my driveway(I went out of town and a tow truck delivered it). Right away I felt remorse, there was a crappy paint job, dents, scratches, broken locks, missing fogs, and the whole car was all ebayed out!

Opened up the hood to find oil everywhere, a cheap looking hardpipe kit(although it is still better than stock!), a blowoff vent to air, and rusted strut towers)

So once I got the motor out, thats when it got exciting. I love seeing trashed engines as long as their not mine! So when I started pulling it apart and chunks of block fell out I just couldn't help but to keep digging!
Heres the first good pic of the damage, notice you can see light on the other side!

Here is what a bent balance shaft looks like! And below it is what a half inch thick layer of sludge looks like. Dont ask what the reciprocating saw was for:)

It would have been nice to buy the car running but I think with alot of work It may turn into a fun year round work car:)

I wasn't expecting a mint 2g by any means. It's just gonna take some work to be nice.
Don't get me wrong its much nicer than my 1g that I paid $450 for!
I'm still happy with it. By this time next week it may even be on the road.

Keep us posted with the swap, it sounds interesting...
Good luck, and happy boosting.

Looks like the hole in the block my brothers 420a had. The car would still run even with parts of the block missing. It was great.

I think you got a deal. I like how the exterior looks. As far as the engine, good thing you planned a swap already. I wanna know how he bent the balance shaft.
I would have to say he broke a rod, wedged against the side of the block and B.S., and the crank beat the chit out of it. Dont ask why I think that. :p :p

Sounds like you may have seen this before.....

You got a good deal i would say. Paint doesnt look back from the pics. The head lights and stock rims look real clean to. Even got your self a 1g bov ;). Throw in a 6 bolt and call it a day.
