i pulled my trans this weekend and found the throw out bearing smushed on the back side
where the fork rests i did not find the clip that holds the bearing to fork it has recently had
a act clutch installed buy previous owner any input on what could cause this. have searched
and would just like some input i have owned this car for 334 miles and 2 weeks so i would
like to prevent this from happening in another 300 miles. thanks.

Possibly a bad/incorrect installation of the bearing the last time - just make sure everything moves freely & is in correct alignment, & be sure to install the new bearing correctly (I would use a factory bearing) . . . :talon:

yeah stick with the factory bearing ,bacause it takes a while to change it out and I haven,t had much luck with the cheaper bearing ,mine fell apart last night and it sounded like I threw a rod bearing ,thank god it,s the bearing .LOL

I had this exact thing happen to me, luckily yours wasn't to the extent that mine was. Mine came loose from the clutch fork, rotated against the pressure plate and locked up on the collar it rides on, breaking it off, finding a trans in my price range was hard, ended up building a new piece out of billet aluminum and welding it back on, works good now. Okay now that my story is done, I would almost bet money on it that the guy that installed your ACT clutch before put the clip on the TOB on wrong, thats what happened to me. I got my bearing and clip from the local NAPA and had to kind of bend the clip inwards a little so it was completely into the bearing and the clutch fork and there was no way it would come loose again. Good luck man, I hope this fixes your problem.

thanks guys for all the advise i saw clip laying in the bottom of bell housing just wondering if there was pic of proper install of the clip dont want to mess this up. oh and i did get an oem tob it looks smaller than
the one that was in there that kinda worries me a little.

Okay so I draw worse than a first grader, don't hold it against me LOL. So here is a very crappy picture of how it should be, clip pointing opposite of the clutch fork and with the hooks looping from the holes in the TOB then curving towards the body of the trans. And as far as the size difference goes, as long as the innermost ring that rotates against the pressure plate is the same size I think you should be in the clear. Hope this helps out, good luck man.
