Need a little help here. Right now I have a 4 speed FWD automatic in my 1g Talon. I would like to put in a 5 speed manual, but seems like a little too much work. Also don't want the expense of a clutch right now. Also was wondering if they made an AWD automatic at all?

But I was wondering if there is a 5 speed (FWD or AWD) automatic that will bolt up? I would like a 5th gear and not sure there is a 1g with one. Otherwise, might just have to do a shift kit and different torque converter on mine to help it out. So anybody who knows all the transmission types they made that will work. Please let me know

Yes they made fwd and awd automatics on all year dsm. Auto trannies are easy to find for your car, but none will have 5 gears, only 4. As for the manual swap the pedals, shifter cables and linkages, reservoir, and all other parts are cheap to get at a junkyard from any non-turbo dsm, and awd trannies can be found for cheap these days as well. The hardest will probably be locating a manual ecu and the 450cc injectors.

I already have an Evo 3 16g on it and the 450cc injectors in. These injectors would be blue tops correct? Oh, and will I still need that manual ECU if I have DSM Link?

That is true I guess, junkyard could make it possible. Would love a manual, less turbo lag is nice for now though. Sucks there are no 5 speed auto's though. Did they make a front wheel drive 5 speed manual though? Cause it will be awhile before I can convert to AWD. And are the tranny's built differently between a turbo and non-turbo dsm?

The trannies are very much alike, and yes they did make fwd manual trannies. Yes the 450cc are the bluetops, they say 450 on the side if you look close.
I would recommend you run at least 550cc though so you don't max the stock injectors out and run lean. Don't forget to get a fuel pump if you haven't already purchased one.
And for the 390's i believe when you switch injectors you don't need to swap the ecu out if you have a tuning tool, cause it will just readjust the ecu to read the injectors you have on there.

Ok, I will probably end up doing a lot of research on this. Because, there are lot of options that I could do. Ok, yeah I just wanted to make sure those were the blue tops. I already put those in, but they are just putting out the same as my 390cc's were until I get it tuned. And I agree, I won't have to change ECU's. I just need mine to be an EPROM for dsm link, but I am not sure if it is or not yet.
And I should be getting a walbro fuel pump when I get it tuned. And I am buying some evo injectors which are either 550cc or 560cc. Pretty sure 550, but someone told me they are 560's.

Sounds good, and to check if you have an eprom take out the ecu, i think on 1g's its in the bottom behind the glove compartment, if not its behinfd the center console like the 2g's. And check to see if there is an E on the ecu before the digits.
