The automatic transmission for my 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0L non-turbo went out while I went to go visit family. It’s having issues accelerating and reversing. I’m asking for what my options are here. If anyone’s selling a working transmission I’m very much interested

Don't give up just yet...
-Was this suddenly, or has it been slowly getting worse over time?
-Can you be a bit more specific with regard to the issues with acceleration / reversing? I.e. when accelerating, does it shift through the gears or stay in one single gear?
-Is it slipping?
-Do you know if the TCU had the capacitors replaced? They experience the same issue as the ECUs for these cars.
-How's the fluid level? Low level will cause issues with fluid pressure, which leads to slipping.

For continuity :)
Update: Two weeks ago I ran into some trouble with my transmission and maybe some power related issues. The car was slipping and came to a complete stop. I had to leave it parked at a relative’s house about 3-4 hours away from home. Didn’t have the time to work on it due to getting swamped at work but Friday the 8th I drove back to check it out. I found the issue, the transmission fluid was atrocious. Not sure how I could have missed that but it was long due for a change. I changed the transmission fluid, gasket, and filter. Drove it back home on the 9th and today I changed the fluid again to flush out any bad residual fluid that was still cycling. Transmission feels so much healthier, doesn’t slip, and shifts perfectly. Real soon I’m going to swap out the power steering pump as well as the alternator and belts. My current psp has a leak and drips right onto the alternator and that’s what’s been making it act up too. WE ARE SO BACK BABYYY

the leaking power steering pump is usually the O'rings on the shaft where the hose bolts to.... drain some fluid.. remove the hose (with the metal end on it).. and the shaft u will see can be unthreaded... super easy to replace and stop the leaking....

Was this meant for another post? ;)

I guess it was a quote i replied to.. this is at the bottom.. Transmission feels so much healthier, doesn’t slip, and shifts perfectly.
