Transmission Trouble

Here is the deal. My car would slip out of first if I would be going slow in like a parking lot or something. Today it made this pop noise and now after I shift it makes a grrrr lack lack lack lack noise. Or when i'm letting off the gas it makes the noise too.

Stop driving it! Drain the oil. You probably have a bunch of metal shavings in the oil. I dont know what you broke but something is busted for sure.

There's no way for me to tell until I drop the transmission, huh!

If its popping out of gear its most likely a broken detent

It shifts into gear every gear just fine also.

Mine does this except in reverse every once in awhile,doesn't grind or anything but mine is a little rough to put in third the shifter feels notchy and i put the symborski kit in and the skateboard bearings under the hood does anyone have any ideas on what my prob may be or anything else i may do to remedy this. (Sorry to jack your thread man just figured i would post here and not start a whole other transmission thread)

If you havent rebuilt trannys take it to a shop. Have them check it out. Im sure they can give you some insight. Im sure whatever is broken is going to have to be replaced. No magic in a bottle for this one

my trans did the same thing so when i dropped the trans to find out what it was we figured out it was a bearing that went bad and the countershaft was shifting up and down now i am in for a rebuild gears 1 2 3 4 seals bearing synchros and a 4 spider diff -=)

could be ,,shift linkage,,,shift cables ,,,bad fluid...low on fluid..

i would drain it and look for metal shavings,and if there are none then put new fluid in,and give it a try.

Shifts into gear fine while driving so its not syncros.... I agree with the detent answer. Either way it will only get worse untill it is fixed. Also keep in mind a messed up trans can take out other things with it. Drive train and bushings, etc.
