2G Transmission Test Outside Car?

96 GSX manual, Is there any way to tell if you have a good transmission if its out of the car? Id prefer not to open it.

There really isn't anyway to tell what shape the syncro's are in and gear wear without opening it up. I haven't opened one yet even though I have done Muncie, Borg Warner, Saginaw etc transmissions. If I could point you to a good write up I would, I will see if I can find one.

Maybe it will help you out, he definitely knows his transmissions and is a very helpful person.

I HAVE had the end cover off of my transmission and you can see some from it being off but it is just 5th and reverse.
