I'm about to do my clutch job, and I'm trying to figure out how to take the axles out. I read a write up about taking out the wheel hubs to do it, and others that said to remove suspension pieces in order to get them out. Can someone tell me how to properly remove them, or point me to somewhere that can? BTW, I have a FWD and most of the write-ups are for AWD.

I have a 95 gst and all you have to do is to unbolt the axel nut, then the lower ball joint. Then you have to seperate the ball joint and pull the axel out of the hub. Then u just take a pry bar and put it between the axel and transmission and pop them out. If you have any more questions just ask.

Well, the axles are connected at two points, the tranny and the hubs. To remove the axle from the hub you have to take off the huge nut holding the axle to the hub then (from what my mechanic told me) beat it out with a rubber mallot. In my case the axle wasnt moving (was kinda rusted) so I had to do it the hard way, which is removing the whole suspension, which really isn't too hard, it actually gives you alot more angles to work on the tranny and clutch. Disconnect the tie rods and calipers and all the other B/S and remove the suspension and the axle from the tranny as a whole. To remove the axle from the tranny put a crow bar inbetween the tranny and the axle pry the axle out, it dosen't really take that much force. That should be it. Good luck

Don't undo the ball joint. Just unbolt the two strut bolts and the brake caliper and it will give you plenty enough room to get the axles out of the wheel carrier housing.

Other than that get a crow bar in behind the axle in between the tranny and the axle and give it a good kick and it will pop out. Just inspect your oil seal afterwards to make sure you didn't damage it. If you did replace it.
