Alright, my speedometer or odometer or trip meter doesn't work. And I have replaced the gear on the sensor. But when I went to go replace it. The drive gear I think its called was pushed back and was not able to touch the sensor gear. Now I work at a shop along with my dad and he doesn't do transmission work. And he has never messed with a FWD transmission. So can some one give me the shake down? Anyone ever heard of this problem? If so, what do I need to buy for parts? Stuff that will help me out.

Thanks,
Nick

Do you have an auto or a manual? And was the gear you bought for an auto or a manual?

I'm sure you do. Afterall, you knew what generation of car you have, you're going to "drop" the tranny out of it, and you can spell "manual". Sorry.

The reason I asked is because the MT and AT have different sized gears, and if you bought the wrong one it could well look like yours was "pushed back". Why don't you post some pictures of what exactly you're seeing?

Haven't took any. I haven't put down a bore scope yet. And sorry for misspelling. I'm very tired and trying to get some info before I go to bed. And I just got my Eclipse a month ago and didn't know nothing about DSM till yesterday.
And I'm pretty sure you have to drop the tranny to get where I'm needing to be.

Unfortunately I'm at work and don't have access to my service manual, so if you're sure you don't have the wrong VSS gear, I'm out of input for now.

Something to keep in mind when you remove the trans though, there's only one mount holding the engine in, the rest are on the trans.
