sorry to post this here, but i couldnt post this in the auto tranny section for some reason.ok here goes: the car is 94 eagle talon 1.8 non turbo, non awd.when the problem first started it would just come out of o.d. and go to nuetral while driving along (i know now that it was probably end clutches) but then it started going into nuetral and wouldnt go anywhere, but i could turn the engine off and let it sit for a couple minutes, start it up again put it in gear and it would be ok till i started cruising along and after a minute or two it would stop pulling again.so i would pull over, cut it off, wait a couple minutes, take off again ect,ect till i finally made it home. then i changed the fluid and filter, which was pretty dirty and all was ok for a day or two, then i does the same thing, but luckily close to home.so i changed the fluid and filter again thinking that the dirty fluid that was in the tq convertercould have stopped up the new filter.well it did ok for several miles and then started all over again.so i had enough of that,i pulled the tranny and took it apart.pump gears, stator support rings, bushings and all the clutches and steels ect. look good exept for the end clutches, which are completely and severely burned up. what are the chances of the end clutches causing it to slip in all ranges?,or are those filters so easily stopped up that the the clutch material from the end clutches were stopping up the filter and thats what made it have "no gears" ?? in a trans manual i have on the transmission,it says that "a malfunction of the rear clutch can cause "forward movement impossible". i would hate to replace the rear clutch and put it back in just to have it do the same thing, but i dont want to waste money on a master rebuild kit when everything else looks good. any help, ideas or input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

What kind of transmission fluid do you run?
i think the first time i changed it , i used some cheapo stuff, but the second time i used the type that it called for in the owners manual.cant remember the brand name right off.thanks for the reply.

I would try replacing the end clutches as long as you use the recommended transmission fluid. If everything else looks fine then you should be good to go.
