Hey, just another newb here. I have a question about what transmissions I can use in my 1991 Talon 2.0 NT. It is a manual trans. From my searching through the forum I learned that I would need to do some mods to put a turbo trans in my NT car so I don't want to do that. Can I use a trans out of a 1.8? What years should I be looking at for a donor trans?:talon:

Is your tranny blown? If so why not just have it rebuilt and have it beefed up some. They cheapest way may be getting another tranny and moding a bit if you are going to be making some power

Lets just pretend that it is missing completely and I need to get one from another car. What cars can I get a trans from that will bolt straight up without modifying anything?

I did a search and this may help some http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255955&highlight=transmission

You should be able to use any non awd tranny from 90-92 seems like 93-94 have bigger axles and the tranny will fit you just need the bigger axles.

It depends, if you have the bastard tranny like the 90s or the regular tranny like the 92-94

He needs to find a 2.0 nt transmission. It will fit best. Turbo fwd transmsissions won't fit without some work. The 1.8l will just be weaker. If it's a 90 style he just needs to update the shift cables too.

No that link didn't help at all but thanks for trying. I guess I need to get under there and find out what trans I have. I am looking to buy a parts car and I just want to make sure I buy something that will be compatible with mine. I guess I will have to find a 2.0 NT car.

how can i tell which transmission is in my eclipse.. i did a 5 sp conversion from an automatic and now at hi rpms it rakes or grinds from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to second when down shifting.. i shifts fine in all other gears,, just 2nd grinds. if i shift slow at low rpm it shifts into 2nd real nice but when im running it,,,,"GRIND"!! :(
