So I am currently selling the transmission in my car which i think is shot because third fourth and fourth are extremely hard to shift into, I told the customer buying it and plans on rebuilding it anyway. If I want another transmission that I know shifts fine and no grinds what year will i have to get. My car is a 96 GSX but the motor has been swapped so many times I cant tell what year it is. My trans number is this.

I am keeping my transfer case that I had with this tranny what year will I have to find and how can i tellt he difference between the different year transmissions. Everybody is saying that a 97+ will destroy my diff but I am reading I just need a matching transfer case to the trans I buy. Any help would be awesome guys.

You just need matching T-Case and trans from a 2G the rear diff's in 1G's and 2G's are different but all 2G diff rears are the same ratio as long as the T-Case and transmission match the diff will be fine..

Get the c51ph from the early jdm vr4 like I have... they're OH so fun... Did I mention almost no one knows anything about them?. . . I'm joking, don't get one, really just don't...

The guys up there ^^^ are correct.
