Transistor Pack Failure

My transistor pack is on the way out, tachometer rarely works anymore. If I reconnect it before I start the car it seems to work well, but otherwise easily stalls the car if I touch it while the car is running. Anyway, the question is, could a bad transistor pack cause the car to run poorly, i.e. smoke out the exhaust or bog on acceleration (not excessively). No CEL, car seems to run ok still, but a rebuild is in the future (few weeks away).

If either of them are intermittent yes, it would cause missing spark.
