Transfer cases

Hey guys,

quick question. Will an auto 95 transfer case work on my 5 speed 96? I've searched around and have never seen a straight answer for this. My case is on it's way out and I'm looking for a new one. And already tried to pull the recall card, didn't work.

Edit: Disregard this information, apparently there are quite a few differences between automatics and 5-speeds.

I've never seen anything indicating they are different. As far as I know, here are the differences:
90-91 - 22-spline
91-96 - 23-spline
97-99 - 23-spline, different gear ratio (can be measured; there is also a visual identification method, not going to bother digging it up though).

Someone with CAPS could verify this. It doesn't run on x64, and I'm not looking to reinstall a virtual machine any time soon. But until then, I hope someone can shine some more light on this subject for you. Shouldn't have much trouble selling it in the event it doesn't fit, anyway.

The diff is different ratio on an auto and 5 speed.

I believe they have different bolt patterns also, so only an auto transfer case will bolt up correctly.

Crap, guess I'm going to have to keep looking for a case then if an auto wont work. Anyone got any ideas of getting around the "only for auto trannys" part of the recall?
