I need some helpful input here. I've been having problems with my tcase yoke plug leaking. I was going to get the modified yoke kit from jnz but here's the rub: the yoke is stuck in the tcase.
A bit of background: soon after purchasing my Tsi awd about a year ago the tcase seized up on me due to a loose drain plug leaking.
I found a used tcase on eBay, but the yoke was stuck in the case. I mean stuck. I took it to a machine shop and they were worried about damaging the case trying to unstick the yoke so I took my chances. I replaced the input shaft seal and smeared some jb weld on the back of the brass plug on the yoke and its been fine until recently, where it started leaking again. I drained the tcase and reapplied jb weld but to my suprise gear oil worked its way through there again.
Ideally i would have removed the case and propped it on its side to do this, but the only way to remove my tcase is by removing the u joint which is a royal pita under jackstands.
So does anyone have any suggestions on removing the yoke? The case works fine, and I'm not trying to risk damaging it to put on the modified yoke.

And yes, the recall check was done on this vehicle years ago. Chrysler has been no help.

Not necessarily, I've seen them just get frozen on and you can beat the hell out of it and it won't budge. If you try hard enough it will start to budge, unless like pauley said, the splines are twisted.

I beat the crap out of the case trying to get the yoke off. It would not budge. I originally thought the PO of the tcase must've used rtv or jb weld in the inside of the plug but that doesn't really make sense and I think it would've budged a little.
If the splines are twisted, how did it happen? I also noticed that even though this case pops off the shaft fairly easily, it is a huge pain to get it back on. Every time I had to use a mini sledge to tap it on, whereas the original case wiggled on pretty easily.
The splines on said shaft appear to be fine, and I thoroughly examined the input splines on the problem case before I installed it.
So basically I have two options. Slather more jb weld on and hope the leak is minimal and check the fluid regularly, or just track down another tcase (a 97-99 a/t case is hard to come by) and get the modified yoke kit.

first drop the t-case buy or rent a balljoint press at autozone. next remove the retaining clips from the joint. i use regular needle nose pliers to remove the clips from the u joints then press the ujoint out. im not going to go into detail as this can be found online next put the t-case in a vise and air hammer only the yolk. some heat may help
