I was driving home from a 6 Bolt swap. And My transfercase locked up at about 40. I immed. pulled it into neutral and skidded to the end of the road. The transfer case was dry and totally locked. What are the chances of the tranny being hurt? Also is there any option except paying mitsu. 600 for the part? I'm having a hard time coming by a 97 or later AWD in a tow yard and I can't seem to find a aftermarket one! Called Shep and Magnus no one has one for sell!

Thankx ahead of time

already did the recall about 30,000 miles ago. The bolt wasent even finger tight! I just had the 6Bolt swap finished 15 miles before it happened... we believe that the mechanic forgot to fill it back up and tighten the bolt. When putting the transfer case back in!

automotosports has them for 150. I doubt any damage is done to anything else. I once had a T-case lock on me.

Well I got it replaced and everything seems to be good to go. I have a little bit of vibration when de-accer with the car still in gear. But I think that might be the new clutch-flywheel or the fact the new motor has it's balance shafts removed.

Thankx for the input...

I doubt seriously that's the BSE - a LOT more likely that you wounded a Universal Joint or knocked a Driveshaft support Bearing out of alignment. This can take out another Transfer case so I'd get under there asap.

Mitsu dealer, installed and ordered the transfer case. They said that everything was in correct order and went thru the trans and the drivetrain for errors. So if it does screw up it's on them!
