All transfer case recall threads are merged here.

Does anybody have a number i can call to see if my cars had the recall done?thanks.

call chrysler, if you have to call the BBB, and then call a different dealer if necessary.

I just had the transfer case replaced on my talon for FREE a SECOND time. The first time, apparently they only did the repair as specified in the TSB, but because the fix had failed they fixed it anyway.

Because this is a safety issue they CAN NOT deny you the fix for as long as the car is on the road.

Good luck, and enjoy your new t-case when you get it. I recommend lightweight shockproof. :D

LOL hopefully its that easy...I'm just going to call and keep complaining till they fix it....Its been 3 weeks since i've driven my car i miss it :( atleast i got my K&n and boost controller on the way hehe

they just called me back and said that the recall that was done previously for the x-case 2 years ago they put one in that made my recall for the next transfercase not valid.....I don't understand they said It would be at my expense to fix it..

I know there are other threads about this same topic, but i couldnt find one that was exactly relevant to my problem nor did i want to jack anyone elses thread. Anyways, my transfer case is leaking and im honestly worried about it locking up on me. I called 2 local dealerships and they ran my VIN and said there was no open recalls. So i said fine maybe its not a recall, but a service bulletin, but the idiots at the dealership kept giving me all this attitude and said i would have to pay for any service  So my next step i think would be to call mitsubishi directly (anyone have their number?). Anyone been in this exact same situation who could offer some help. Thanks

try finding another dealership thats wiling to help. if the place you tried already gave you a hard time you're not gonna get anything out of them, trust me.

my advice is to pitch a fit. I work for a dealership and the worst thing in the world is when someone calls in and complains. The car companies come down hard and the usually end up giving in.

I would go there and ask for a number to register a complaint, then get all the recall info you can and point out in a calm, stern and logical manner what is wrong. either the dealer will cave or you will give them a storm of problems to deal with.

good luck.

I went through that same crap here Chgo. I called D-C and complained because I do have a :talon: and spoke to the dealer numerous times. I took it in w/a tow truck, because at that time tranny was messed up as well. I thought it was just the xcase, but no, it was tranny. So they charged me the labor rate of about $130. To tell me bunch of crap I already knew. And according to them xcase was fine not leaking, what was leaking was the ps rack. Now I replaced tranny and it got harder to shift after few more than 2k miles. And I know its bc the xcase is losing fluid. I put in redline fluid, so now its red, no mistaking it with ps fluid. So I'll prob. call again and complain a bit. So hopefully I'll get it fixed.

ok i am a huge redline fan and am running redline in everything, where did you get red oil from, maybe if you have an autotrans, but the transfer case fluid is basically gear lube, redline makes a proper oil for our transfer case and its not red

also the power steering fluid should be trans fluid in our cars, read the manual

Redline oil was obtained from Summit Racing. No, I used Heavy Duty Shock Proof in my tcase and its red. It is recommended by Road Race Eng. for use in tcase and rear diff. And for the ps fluid, it states to use approved fluid, and ps fluid is ps fluid, therefore it should be 'approved'.

I went through the same thing a few months ago. This was my first time ever taking a car to a dealer for service, and I only did it cause it would be free. When I dropped it off they told me it wouldn't be covered and I told them that it should be and that I would be researching the issue more. Thankfully my fellow DSMers advised me not to take this shit from satan and to fight it all the way(but don't throw the t-case through the window of the dealer hehe...we all know what happens when u do that!!) I called DC customer service after the dealer called me to let me know my car was ready(and $400!!). The rep was cool about it and called the dealer while I was on hold. Needless to say, the dealer called on the other line while I was holding to let me know that it was all set and no charge. Hmmmm...they came around quickly after telling me 3 times that it wouldn't be covered.

Just remember to be professional about the whole thing(t-case+window=jail). I think that 99% of the dealers will try to get out of it, but if corporate says jump they jump. Hopefully Mitsu's customer service is as accommodating as DC's was for me.

CALL D-C customer service!!!!! You'll never get anywhere w the dealer, but once they get the call from upstairs it'll get done. Chrysler doesn't want bad PR about somebody doing the crash and burn on the freeway 'cause they wouldn't replace a yoke or T-case. Besides, the NHTSA says so!!

who called you, the dealer?

call chryslers 1-800 # and they should call the dealer and set them straight.

also, call your attorney generals to complain about the dealership. the BBB won't do crap.

Are you sure the number isn't in this thread somewhere? I coulda sworn I used to have it, and got it from here. I'll look for it, but I think it's somewhere in here already

So, for those of you out there who have taken your car in for the CV/t-case recall, did the techs at the dealership test drive your car? The one I took it do did and I don't think there was any reason for him to do it.

That was yesterday. Now after driving a hundred miles or so I was out working on my car and noticed I am burning antifreeze. I've got white smoke and moisture coming out of my muffler. I've never noticed it before.

So I'm worried the tech romped on the gas before the car was warmed up and blew a pinhole leak in my headgasket.

I don't have any oil in my coolant and I can't see any coolant on my dipstick (but I'm not entirely sure how to tell if it is there.)

The dealer is giving me a new t-case, so that is a plus, but what do I do about the coolant issue? I don't think I can prove it is there fault unless the tech should never have test-driven the car.

As I left the dealership I noticed the engine was at full operating temp after I'd been there for two hours, and that it didn't seem to be pulling as hard as usual.

Need some advice, thanks.

It's difficult to deal with these situations. I would go to the tech and ask some questions like, "Hey, did you get a chance to get on it?" or "It pulls hard doesn't it?" to trick him into admitting he got on the throttle. You know, use the "it's all good" method. If you try to escalate the issue with a manager, it may be difficult to plead your case. After all, you bring in a car that's been modified for performance, it's kinda difficult to point the finger, even if it is their fault. It's them vs. you and it sucks, but that's what everyone has to face when dealing with a recall issue. Good luck.

if your really upset. my buddy brung a small tape recorder to the tech that did the same thing and did the its all good thing and then played it for the manager after the tech admitied to getting on it. the tech got into trouble and they replaced the part wrong with it for free. of course. i would do that if i were you. you know he got on it. he made sure no one was around and ripped the hell out of it because they think they can get away with it. trick that basterd bro. and show him one of these> :nono: :talon:
