transfer case not fitting!

Hey... I drive a 1990 talon Tsi awd 5-speed. The T case i had on the car locked up and it was a 22 spline Fully aluminum. So i bought one from a guy on here and it was a 22 spline half aluminum and half cast iron. I went to go put it on the car today and the drive shaft will go in but not all the way and it will go on the output shaft but not all the way. Does this mean it will not work and i have to buy another one. Thanks

Cast are 23 spline unless someone change the guts out.

Well i counted it and it was 22 it slips on but does not go all the way in.

How long has your car sat with the Tcase out?

Try more grease.

Make sure the splines are straight on the output shaft

I can fit the old one on, but it also has grease on it.

And it's worn the same way that the output shaft is.

Well i put some wheel bearing grease on it and it went on perfect. Thanks for the help.
