okay here is the problem. my transfer case is leaking and im pretty sure its the yoke that gets replaced in the recall. i would love to dive my car to the local dealership and leave my car there for a week or two but absoutly cant because there is no other way for my ass to get to work and back every day.

okay i was reading on vfaq and there is a fix for the problem using jb weld. im a little confused because in the begining of this article ( http://www.vfaq.com/mods/transfer-print.html ) it says to use jb weld and not to get any on the splines but towards the end it says to rvt and get it all over the treads leaving me like thisWTF. so has anyone ever done this mod before? here is a picture do i just fill in the bottom of this with jb weld and let it dry?

thanks in advance
david

dnhieu we seem to have the EXACT same problems it's weird as hell. When i search for a problem (cooling, venting crank case, leaking trans etc etc) I can always count on a post from you haha Whether that's a good thing i don't know.

But anyway, i would think they said the jbweld is a bad idea because you would not be able to pull out the case anymore or it would be a serious PITA. Whereas the rvt makes a tight seal, yet would be easy to break if one has to take the case off again.

BTW, i'm doing this in a couple weeks also because the mitsu dealerships have "No open recalls" on the leaking cases! so it seems like it's more trouble then its worth to call around etc and get it done at the shop. I'll let you know how it goes.

Oooooohhhh. I am about to do mine and would like to know if there is a part number for this? I know MachV has one here http://www.machv.com/1gawddrreyo.html but I would like to just get one from the dealer down the street.

I would take the case off and inspect the seal before you spend money on parts you might not need. Mine was leaking pretty bad, and it ended up being a tiny gouge in the seal that was very difficult to see. I replaced the seal and it was fine after that.

Okay it is weird that you always have the same problems as i do haha.

anyways i thought the only thing i had to do was fill the top of that plug with jb weld let it dry and put it back together is this not right? i didnt think i would have to fill it up with rvt sealant then put it together then let it dry. im confusedWTF

also im probably going to just buy the seals which are $15.00 dollars at our local mitsubishi dealership and then do this mod. does this sound like the right way to be handling the problem? also there are 2 seals that come with it. i know one goes on the x-fer case but where does the other one go on the driveshaft?
