trans- what is a sign of bad syncro(s)?

okay so to start off i don't THINK my syncro's are bad, but idk what else could explain this issue i'm having.

driving normal it goes into each gear smoothly, no issues ever (not even reverse). but when i shift at redline it won't go into gear until the engine has "rev matched" the next gear (only have tested this 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd). it doesn't grind, it just won't go in no matter how much pressure i put on the gear. so for example it works like this:

redline 1st gear
clutch engaged
pop it out of gear
try to shift to 2nd but won't go in
engine drops revs down to 4k-ish and then pops into 2nd gear no problem

i guess it could be a clutch peddle problem also.. maybe the clutch peddle isn't engaged all the way.

any ideas?

only aftermarket thing that would affect this at all would be a b&m short throw at 35% reduction.

i would look at your clutch personally. Im pretty sure if it was a synchro problem it would be apparent at all rpms not just near red line.

I wouldn't rule out a trans problem either. start with looking at your clutch since its cheaper. or if you still have it put your stock shifter back in and see if it changes.
 
yeah i don't have the stock shifter...

i really am leaning towards the clutch. gonna have to check it out.
 
Popping out of gear sounds more like synchros than a bad clutch.

Before I had my tranny rebuilt it would pop out of gear. I had zero grinding at any rpm at all, just popping out of gear. Especially when in first at a light.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it showed up as a recent topic on my phone. Must be because I haven't deleted the cache in a while.

But, I guess it is still useful information.
